Ebay Please Turn My Store on! Sales Have Stopped.

My sales have been going along just fine, until 5 days ago they have completely stopped, no messages, no offers, no sales!

I can definitely tell when my visibility is off, not just by no sales, I can tell by the “send offer” button on my active listings. When my sales are steady and going well the number of offers I can send out (in other words people who have seen my item and put it on their watch list) goes up daily (sometimes by 10-15). But for the last 5 days that number not changed, which means no one is seeing my items.

And for those of you that are going to come here and tell me my items are the reason, please see the statement above. My sales were fine and then they shut off. (I have multi-quantity listings, so you will not be able to look at my sales numbers.) I'm not having poor sales, but rather NO SALES and no watchers, which is not normal. I understand ebbs and flow of sales, not drop off a cliff, that is not normal.

What the heck is happening?? Something is seriously wrong here.

Didn't you start a similar thread a couple months ago? So, sales came back and now their off again? It's the 'ebb & flo' of e-commerce. Lots of competition here as well as many more sites to buy from.

I have a website. 2 Sales in 8 minutes, 1000 miles apart. Then nothing for 4 days; Then 3 in 1 day, 2 the next. Go figure- been doing this off/on thing for 10+ years.

Is this thread markedly different from this one?

The above thread garnered a lot of responses that might be helpful.

I was off for a month and came back to nice steady sales (for Ebay anyway) for almost 3 weeks and then everything stopped for FIVE DAYS so far. That is not normal ebb and flow. 10 years here also.

@monstertoybox

I am sorry you are going through this again.

For me traffic is down 67% and sales are down 49.5% compared to January 2019.   The market is up 9.5% compared to last year.  So, now I am thinking maybe the problem for me is my items are no longer well suited for the demographic of buyers here.

Re: Ebay Please Turn My Store on! Sales Have Stopped.

I hear you, my friend!   3 sales this week.  If an new issue of a sports magazine didn't come out last weekend, I'd have 1 sale from a regular buyer.  The entire 1st month of 2020 is pathetic.  I've sold more in 3 days (not often) than I have in this month.  The excuse of bills after Christmas doesn't cut it.  In 2019, the beginning of Jan. was pretty nice.  I hope you see an improvement soon.   Best of luck.

Hi, took a look at your listings and they are fantastic. I don't think the sale cessation has anything to do with your end of the scale. Your efforts appear stellar. Sorry I don't have any insight into what has caused this. If i were to venture a guess, i can only say 5 days of no activity could be the ebb and flow of the market. Whatever it is, hope it is short-lived. Best wishes to you.

Yes, it is normal ebb & flo. When you were 'kickin' it- you were lucky. I've been off/on for 10 years. Nothing new.

Re: Ebay Please Turn My Store on! Sales Have Stopped.

I have slow sales sometimes. Honestly i have never ever ever even considered to blame ebay for slow sales.  I just figure maybe people just don't want to buy my stuff right now.

No offense to you or anyone else. I think sellers need to take responsibility for slow sales. Maybe no one wants to buy your <whatever you sell>. Stop trying to blame ebay.

Looks like a typical eb/flo of e-commerce to me. You also have to take into account weather, bad storms stop people from shopping etc. Holidays, getting close to SB Sunday (bigger holiday than people realize) etc.

Re: Ebay Please Turn My Store on! Sales Have Stopped.

Take responsibility for my sales stopping for 5 days straight after I’ve had great sales for 3 weeks? OK, there is something wrong with what goes on with sales on this site, it’s called algorithms. We are not 100% in control of our sales. Sorry I have to disagree.

Re: Ebay Please Turn My Store on! Sales Have Stopped.

As I said in my first posting you cannot look at my sales and get correct numbers. I have multi quantity listings and they do not show up as sold until the last one is sold. So the figures you have so carefully collected are wrong. The 5 days without sales is significantly different then what my sales have been. I need my store turned on.

@inhawaii

Did you read the news the past few days?

eBay has lost 9% GMV in the united states during Q4 (US GMV in Q4 2018 was $9.76 billion).

That means during Q4 they sold $1 billion dollars less in the United States alone. That's a staggering decline and explains why most sellers saw massive sales declines since September.

An analyst just called eBay a "melting ice cube". Other analysts have called eBay "irrelevant" in the past few days.

If eBay was growing, then I'd say sellers may want to look at what they're selling, etc.

When eBay is declining faster than Sears & Roebuck, I'm gonna say this time it's an "eBay problem", not a "seller problem".

Amazon just posted a massive earnings report today, stock up almost 10%.

I think the million dollar question is:

If you have identical widgets being sold on Amazon, Walmart, BestBuy and eBay, give me one reason why you would buy it from eBay instead of the other three? I cannot think of one. The other three deliver in one day and have stores, warehouses close to where we all live.

eBay is a website which is now trying to compete with legitimate retail giants who own inventory, warehouses and retail locations.

eBay business model is irrelevant and outdated in 2020.

If anybody is waiting for things to turn around, don't bother IMO....

Best of luck to all.
