I sold an item to a first time buyer of mine . The buyer sent a very rude accusatory message in my inbox after delivery. She didn't like her purchase and demanded a full immediate refund . She also said she had no intention of wasting her time to return it and if I didn't issue the immediate refund she was going to leave the worst feedback possible . . She claimed if she returned it then I would lie and say I never got it back. All of this was written in the first message she sent me without giving me one single chance to respond . I replied that I was sorry she didn't like her item but she would still need to return it to receive the refund . Apparently being told she couldn't keep the purchase plus receive a full refund made her even more angry because when she finally began a return she demanded more money back than what she spent. So yesterday I got the return in the mail but before it arrived she had still gone ahead and left very nasty negative feedback . I asked e bay to read the communication between myself and this buyer as proof of the attempted feedback extortion and asked if they would remove the feedback. They declined by saying the feedback was only the buyers opinion,, but said nothing about her irrational demands . Tulips

I understand eBay is not willing to help you in this instance. And yes, the number of situations where they will help is pretty limited.
But plenty of sellers have reported here that they were able to get feedback removed, so to claim that they only help buyers is misleading.

Unfortunately there is no happy middle ground in this situation, ebay either allows negatives to stick or they remove them at random, there is no rhyme or reason to any of it... Yes, it is frustrating but I am also a buyer and I have seen quite a few incidents in the past year or two where abusive sellers have had negative feedback removed simply because they knew how to play the game (or worse still they got lucky).
If you think a negative feedback from a buyer stings, try being a buyer watching your negative feedback being removed. You have to understand, negative feedback actually hurts the buyer more than the seller because after one year the seller is again in the clear but it stays on the buyer's "feedback left" tab FOREVER.
I just got a negative myself, tried to get it removed and failed...
But then I went to look at that buyer's feedback left tab I saw what I consider a disproportionate amount of neg/pos ratio (in this case about 10% of FB left was negative) so I added that buyer to the BBL.

Sorry for your negative experience,
I think many of us have already been there before, one rep says no, the next rep cancels the unjustified Neg immediately.
Wait 10 mins and contact the next Ebay rep, the Neg should and will be removed.
Look on the bright side, it is a long weekend!

Yeah, that's call center help. Call back until you get a USA based rep.

Untrue, ebay only keeps a tally summary of the positives/neutrals/negatives up to 1 year. But all the feedback a seller ever received stays on the seller's page forever too if you go to a seller's feedback page and scroll down into the old pages for feedbacks left "More than a year ago". For instance, my feedback page shows 8 negatives in the last 12 months, but if you dig passed it you'll see a lot more than 8 negs received on my feedback page (you'd just have to go passed 200 pages of feedback to see it).
Not like it matters though because hardly anyone will sift thru all those pages and ebay puts very little value in feedback nowadays.

First thing to do is block her from further purchases. Again it's a shame eBay will not share a list of the bad buyers, especially the one's running scams. At least she sent back the item you sold her. You should see some of the posts where the seller got back something other than what they sold the person, i.e. a rock. I had a buyer purchase an item that contained 24 items. He removed what he wanted then claimed that they were not in the shipment. I had the USPS check-in receipt that showed the box weighted 6 pounds 9 ounces when I shipped it. This was USPS's scale. The box I received back weighed 3 pounds 6 ounces. EBay still backed the buyer and fully refunded them. Such is the life of a seller on eBay. If I was a dishonest person I could make a pretty decent living scamming eBay sellers, especially on big ticket items. They make it pretty easy.

I was about to say just give it time and ebay will probably remove it since you are a top rated seller, but then I looked and didn't see that you were one. weird

Yes the buyer demanded a dollar more than she paid for the item . The cost was 13.90 with me paying the shipping but she wanted 14.90 back. . I told her she would receive a full refund once the item was returned. However before it arrived back she left the negative feedback . I've appealed e bays decision to allow the feedback to stay . I don't know how you're doing it but congrats on getting your negs removed . Tulips

, I was a top rated seller for years until I was late one time with a refund . That's when e bay decided refunds could no longer come from your bank account but had to come from your Pay pal account instead . It took the bank 5 days to transfer the funds into my Pay pal . By then I was late refunding and hence the demotion . Tulips

Demanding money in exchange for not leaving negative feedback is the textbook definition of feedback extortion, if there were such a thing.

Yes sir ,, I did and the negative feedback was removed .. I noticed this morning it was gone . I guess it pays not to roll over and play dead . Tulips

Yes , persistence did indeed pay off . I guess someone in charge realized that when a seller is adamant and will not back down ,, they are probably in the right . The neg was removed . Tulips

Dear
Place the buyers name here to block her in order to save other sellers from her

I think sometimes e bay will do the refund themselves if it becomes apparent to them that it was a remorse purchase . Usually they will only do this once for a customer . It's a win win situation for the seller . Tulips
