@Anonymous
Received the message as well and it is in regards to Promoted Listings. June 1st, the structure for "how" PLs will be applied is changing, as well as, it appears other aspects of the PL program.
We use it daily and I am not 100% certain I understand what they are trying to communicate at this time.
HOWEVER, will share that for once, e-Bay is trying to get out ahead of this change, and it can mean substantial additional costs to a Seller if they do not perhaps modify current campaigns in place, end them or re-structure "which" listings you are willing to have the PL standard % apply to.
The GOOD news? We have until 6/1 to work to implement for ourselves and learn more about PLs and how best to integrate (or not) the changes that will apply 6/1. I am grateful we have had a "heads up" on this for quite a while.
All the best. It is Friday and a long week for many of us. The posters on this board are helpful, knowledgeable and willing to give their free time to assist others. No keyboard malice here.

Hope its better than what is going on...
Even a panhandling person can make $200 a day.. we have hardly seen a week over $300 since January.

You stated, " I am not 100% certain I understand what they are trying to communicate at this time."
So my question is, if we are to use this time before 6/1 to implement changes to our PL planning, what are we supposed to do if we don't understand what eBay is saying in their announcement? I don't know whether to remove them all or change them in some way.

That is going to be 100% up to each Seller's situation. I fully understand the change in the FVF calculations. It is some of the other aspects of the email that I am not 100% certain what those changes are and how impactful they may be. There are other threads on this board regarding the PLs and they have the full email received in those threads.
Only you as a Seller can best determine whether or not your overall profitability for the items in a campaign and the percentages you elected, leave room for "true" profitability once the 6/1 FVF re-calc goes into place. No offense to tyler@ebay , but each Seller will need to evaluate for themselves based on their cost-basis in their items, just as they would any other time they choose to use a promotional feature on the site.

Tyler is no longer here.
I haven't read the announcement in detail, but I don't think it's saying anything we didn't already know from the Spring Seller announcement. Each seller has to figure out what makes sense for them.

We use this calculator often when working to determine the profit margin "range" we have available on specific items or item types. It has been updated recently (March), etc. There are others out there, but we like this one.

Thank you for the link. I have never seen this before - been here 24 years too. Appreciate it. Now if we can just figure out exactly what eBay meant in the announcement we can decide what to do going forward with our PLs. Thanks again.

So here's a followup question for you. On my own spreadsheet where I've calculated profit margin I had already updated it based on the spring seller update that announced the promoted ad fee standard would change to being based on the total sale vs just the product price (i.e., it said the promo ad fee would start to be charged on product + sales tax + shipping customer pays). So I've already been using that new calculation for awhile. I tried putting a sample item in the fee calculator you provided, and it was exactly -- to- the- penny -- in agreement with all my numbers. The calculator states as of Mar 1. It matches my numbers now. So what's the change they just announced today in their email saying it would be effective 6/1? I've got to be missing something. Is there some change other than Promo listing ad fees that we're supposed to understand? I think I've got all FVF and PL ad fees understood correctly.

More $ for ebay, less $ for sellers.
I am so glad that I will be retiring soon.....
I have been a seller on and off for 24 years, full time seller for the last 10 years.
ebay does not care about their sellers, not even the long term sellers like me, the ones that made this site what it is.
For the last 10 years, I have attempted to grow my ebay business. It does not matter what I do or try to sell, it doesn't grow. It seems that my account has been "trained" to sell a certain amount each year.
I feel bad for the up and coming ebay sellers, coming in with big plans to expand and make more money each year.

I read it and I think it is just a revised plan that discusses stuff like when you list your descriptions, pictures , title etc can be used on the WW web as mine appear now on Google, and I personally do not use promoted, or any of the other ad programs for additional fees. It also includes verbiage on those who do use the promoted ads, pay per click etc and the terms of those ads. Although, one line of the terms scared me a bit when it said that they can anytime do whatever with these ads, which is maybe charge even if you do not choose to participate in the PAID ads. This I am not real sure of and it anybody can clarify that that would be peachy.

I just did a sample one and it matches currently what is in excel for us?
Today, a PL standard only charges the % you select on the item cost sold (i.e. $10).
On June first, they will charge the % you have selected on the total TRANSACTION costs (i.e. $10 + $4 shipping + .85 cents sales tax or a total of $14.85)
In the $10 scenario, 5% PLs = 50 cents of a fee
In the $14.85 scenario, 5% PLs = 74 cents of fee - a change of 32% more than before 6/1
We had in the past had a PLs % apply + a sale price, because a "sale" is visible to a potential Buyer. Should we be able to eat another 24 cents on a $10 sale (btw, we do not typically list items for $10) - in theory.
But on items with a lot of shipping and higher costs - it can and will get salty, because these fees are IN ADDITION TO the regular FVFs a Seller will be paying + store costs + tax burden rate + supply costs + insurance + advertising (if applicable) + warehouse fees and on and on and on............
We are looking at items and considering put back free shipping on some to help with search, etc.
Good luck on whatever you decide.
