EBAY IS JUST PLAIN " BROKEN " AND ITS OBVIOUS

What is ebay going to do about this fiasco.  It's unbelievable how sales just dropped off overnight a few weeks ago, and they have not gotten any better.  I've been very successful here on ebay over the years, always have been one to just sit back and accept the changes, but it's very clear that everything is broken with this site.  Too many issues to even start naming them, but my biggest one is that of my close to 1500 listings, in a 24 hour period, by their chart, and the views my listings are getting, i'm averaging 300 views a day on all my listings, that means that only 1/5 of my listings are even being looked at each day which is just pathetic. It's never been like this, and sales are just horrible.  This is clearly an ebay problem, And not some **bleep** economy related issue. This has never happened in 20 years for me on here, and i've never been one to come here and complain at all, but something has to be done.

Re: EBAY IS JUST PLAIN " BROKEN " AND ITS OBVIOUS

Ebay search for "Netflix board game" = 7 results

Ebay search for "Netflix party game" = 26 results

For some reason most of the sellers are calling it "party game" instead of "board game"

And that's ebays fault? That's why your sales are down?

A really smart seller would list it using better words so that it comes up easier.

Trending now NETFLIX  original board game family party adult card NEW!

You go ahead and believe the search t broken and it's all ebay's fault that your sales are down.

It's obvious i'm not going to change your mind.

Have a great weekend!

Exactly!  If you're selling Playstation 5's you would not be here complaining that your sales are down.

Re: EBAY IS JUST PLAIN " BROKEN " AND ITS OBVIOUS

Sales began slowing way before this disastrous economy took hold and the latest proof is that so many sellers posted right here that they were experiencing no-to-zero sales since mid-May.  Ebay owns this disaster.

Re: EBAY IS JUST PLAIN " BROKEN " AND ITS OBVIOUS

The fact is that ebay manipulates search results based on many extraneous factors not related to key words - often based both on seller metrics and buyer purchasing or previous search history.  For that reason potential buyers using the same key words will get different results - that has been happening as long as I have been selling on eBay but is far worse now since eBay keeps changing their algorithms, categories, etc.

A seller such as inhawaii selling primarily multiple quantity new items with a strong sales metric is going to get more visibility than a competitor selling only a single quantity item.  eBay rewards not only promoted listings with increased visibility, but multiple quantity listings as well as higher priced items - all of which put more money in ebay's pocket and increase their GMV stats.   To believe otherwise is naive.

Just because there are so many sellers here complaining that sales are slow

and it's all ebay's fault does not make it so.

I'm sure there are just as many sellers experiencing records sales,

you just wont find them on the boards complaining.

You can sit back and blame ebay all you want.

I doubt that will change things for you.

Could you imagine if instead of selling what you are currently selling now,

you were selling the TOP TEN selling items on ebay?

Do you think your sales would still be slow?

@inhawaii

Just in case you wanted another example.. just came across this one. Looking for a 1969 Mercury cyclone trim part.

Searched the part # c9gy-16164-a

Ebay's search result-covered pics so it won't be removed:

cut and paste exact part# to Google and tadah- the active ebay listing!

Part number in the title and in the item specifics

How about this for a prime example of eBay's nonsense?

Re: EBAY IS JUST PLAIN " BROKEN " AND ITS OBVIOUS

Goolge search for "C9GY-16164-A" = One ended ebay listing.

Ebay search for "C9GY-16164-A" = No current listings. It does show the same ended listing.

Again, if you think this is why your sales are down, so be it. I'm not going to change your mind.

Re: EBAY IS JUST PLAIN " BROKEN " AND ITS OBVIOUS

Ebay search: "Hannah Montana hologram cups".

I come up with Hannah Montana cups, but none of them say "hologram".

Why you are coming up with cards, I don't know.

What is your search criteria?  I don't know.

If that proves your point that the search is broken and it's all ebay's fault for low sales, then so be it.

Now, what do you plan on doing about it?

Come on the boards a few times a week complain about it?

Do you think that will help?

Shouldn't you be taking some kind of action?

Re: EBAY IS JUST PLAIN " BROKEN " AND ITS OBVIOUS

I had 21 sales in the last 16 days; 0 days with 0 sales after SEVERAL weeks of getting 1-3 per week.  I changed nothing so, what changed??  36 sales in July compared to 12 in June. March, April & May were just as horrible.  I'll tell you what changed - eBay's limitations on my account.  21-year seller.  100% feedback.  Worse 4 months I've ever had.  It wasn't the economy.  It wasn't people only buying necessities now.  It wasn't people taking vacations.  All of these would still have affected my sales in July.  They did not.  eBay, one way or another, IS disrupting how well many sellers do; randomly.

Re: EBAY IS JUST PLAIN " BROKEN " AND ITS OBVIOUS

@inhawaii

Geez your right- it did just sell- thats great for my buddy. I did not notice because the results were the same as i reported for the last couple of weeks since he had listed it.

How do you feel about the search engine choosing to show nudes instead of any other vintage car parts ?

Is that what you think is working well?

I dont expect you to change my mind but I will tell you that I am very open minded and willing to look at all the aspects of a situation and i will often change my mind when new evidence presents itself.

I just do not get that vibe from you- you seem to think the search is perfect no matter how many people show examples of bad results.  Is this personal to you- were you on the design team or something?
