EBAY IS JUST PLAIN " BROKEN " AND ITS OBVIOUS

What is ebay going to do about this fiasco.  It's unbelievable how sales just dropped off overnight a few weeks ago, and they have not gotten any better.  I've been very successful here on ebay over the years, always have been one to just sit back and accept the changes, but it's very clear that everything is broken with this site.  Too many issues to even start naming them, but my biggest one is that of my close to 1500 listings, in a 24 hour period, by their chart, and the views my listings are getting, i'm averaging 300 views a day on all my listings, that means that only 1/5 of my listings are even being looked at each day which is just pathetic. It's never been like this, and sales are just horrible.  This is clearly an ebay problem, And not some **bleep** economy related issue. This has never happened in 20 years for me on here, and i've never been one to come here and complain at all, but something has to be done.

Yes they do. Also the other example is ridiculous. When you type shadowlands a pop up shows you the choice of categories so you scroll to where is says what you want. In this case the person wanted a dvd. There are 365 choices to choose from. Even if they missed the pop up window a normal person would not just type shadowlands, they would tell the search to include what they actually want by typing shadowlands dvd.

Your example is simplistic, sort DVD. You can’t sort a part that isn’t being shown.

Google even finds close matches. Make a typo and it still finds close matches. eBay's search does not. Proven over and over.

I have a lot of parts with extensive part numbers and measurements. Do I need to add a hundred variations to my item specifics in the hope ebay will show it to a buyer that makes a typo or adds a word I did not have in my item specifics?

in this example it seems one added search word, repair, is preventing  the listing from being shown. That supports my post on another thread of just typing in a part number should pull it up but no, the argument then was more information was needed.

it’s the KISS principle. Keep it as simple  as possible. Something ebay has forgotten. Bottom line is if Google can find it, ebay should find it on their own site.

eBay’s search IS flawed.

Correct , keep it simple so a  buyer can find it.  Put in your title what you are selling not a bunch of numbers. I have ordered 3 different parts recently, one for my truck and 2 for my car. Guess what? No idea of the part number, typed the year, make, model, and NAME OF THE PART part. Results showed me many to choose from various sellers.  I received all three parts and was very happy. You'll get the hang of it, titles are the most important if you want buyers.

I wouldn't say it's ridiculous. Note that the original search was done WITHIN the DVDs & Blu-Ray Discs category. The search returned 0 results for that category i.e. no listings for shadowlands within the DVDs & Blu-Ray Discs category. Your search shows there are actually 365 listings for shadowlands DVDs. And I spot checked within your search results. Those 365 listings are listed in the DVDs & Blu-Ray Discs category. I have always searched this way by using the category dropdown and never had any issues. If I'm looking for a shadowlands dvd, I'd search for shadowlands within the DVDs & Blu-Ray Discs category, then use the filters on the left to narrow down my search based on format, condition, price, etc. It's also inconsistent. If I search for say animatrix within the DVDs & Blu-Ray Discs category the same way I did shadowlands, I don't get 0 results. I get 751 listings to choose from. ballykissangel : 274 results. Again, with shadowlands: 0 results. Seems like it should at least be consistent.

The onus is on eBay or whatever venue, to make a search that works for it's users.... Only a complete goofball would blame it's users for not searching right!   Btw the absolute PROOF  is that other search engines do a much better job of finding eBay listings than eBay does. How can you justify that? That's like going into Walmart looking for something and they tell you to go next door to Sears. Then Sears tells you what you want is in isle 23 shelf 4 back over at Walmart!

@discodecadencetoys Any time you sell something no matter how ridiculous you may think it sounds, IT IS A MUST  to put in the title what you area selling. NO ONE will type the name of a movie and not include the letters DVD. As th opther poster said, KISS.

@siamjane8  Nope, the example was given without the name of the car, the year of the car, or the make of the car.

I mean at the end of the day to do something over and over again expecting different results is insane.  If you solely rely on ebay for your income which is not guaranteed as you have to find the right buyer then maybe its time to spend your efforts on finding a real job?
