Downgrading Store with a contract- New benefits of store do not match my business model

One of the ebay people on the boards said we could downgrade our store without a fee but the customer service representatives said we could not. Has anybody heard anything new from ebay? Here is the link I found on the community board.

without a fee but the customer service representatives said we could not.

@rangers2337

You would be correct, that the staff seller_update@ebay  answering questions that day said there would be no penalty for downgrading.  They did not, however, supply any link to easily accomplish the said task online/onsite.  Apparently, they did not provide the 'memo' to those CS people who answer the phone.

You probably have to keep calling until you get a CS rep that both understands what you are talking about AND has the tools to take care of the issue.  Likely, that will be the hardest part of the whole procedure.

Good luck, and let us know what you find out.  Hopefully, those interested will find this thread as it moves to other pages  and you post an update.

seller_update@ebay

Could you please review this post and advise sellers exactly what they should be telling eBay CS agents when they wish to downgrade or remove their eBay store subscriptions all together without incurring early termination fees, between  now and April 30, 2021.

There are multiple posts on the boards stating the same problem that the OP describes, eBay CS agents are do not appear to be informed regarding your statement made on 03-03-2021 "Early Termination Fees for yearly subscriptions will be waived for US stores starting today thru 4/30."

I'm not sure how long that "seller update" id is good for or whether it's permanent......can you also check on this store termination thing........it is going be time sensitive.

I'm the one I think that originally posted, so feel somewhat responsible..........

So what are you trying to tell us? You are not sure if that works or not? Can’t you contact eBay for us since you work there. Thanks

Neither dhbookds or myself are eBay employees. We are sellers just like you, who have made posts on the seller's board, passing along information that was stated by eBay employees, so that other sellers are aware that this small window exists to change their store subscriptions if they so desire.

What I will suggest that you might try is contacting eBay CS via email, and in that email provide them with the link to the thread that the eBay team stated that sellers with annual store subscriptions have the ability to change their subscription or cancel them all together between now and April 30, without incurring a early termination fee, and see what they say.

Remember this is eBay and that accomplishing most things with eBay CS has never been easy. But if you remain persistent, then that persistence will often times win the day.

@rangers2337   @go-bad-chicken

I did call concierge.....had to ask about another question, so asked this one.

She did not know of the free early termination period.  She checked with a "higher" authority and said that it was correct......that if you downgrade before April 30, you will not be charged a termination fee.  However this was something that was not highly "publicized".  That there may be more information given to CS (and concierge) in the near future.....just because of the question, but so far nothing had come across her desk.

And said, if you are charged a termination fee, call CS and they will credit it....

Does this give me confidence?  pretty much........but I do think there's a possibility that you could have to fight the termination fee.  I would sure take a screen shot of that page in the update and file it away.

If anyone downgrades and gets a termination fee, I hope they will let us know...........

@dhbookds the early termination fee waiver is automatic, so there isn't any action that needs to be taken by customer service.

Downgrading Store with a contract- New benefits of store do not match my business model

Just do it before the end of April.  I downsized my store last year at the end of the subscription period due to the switch to GTC on fixed price items.  It was a breeze and I have been saving every month now for almost ten months.

I was shocked that ebay even offered this chance to downsize without the penalty.  It must have been on the advice of legal council in conjunction with the roll out of mangled payments.

Downgrading Store with a contract- New benefits of store do not match my business model

Hi!  Has anyone successfully downgraded their store before April 30 without being charged an early termination fee?

I contacted Customer Service by phone and by chat and they said that if I downgraded my store I would be charged an early termination fee.

They were not aware of the waiver of fees.

I have a Premium monthly store that I want to downgrade to a Basic store.

Since Covid my sales have gone down.

Best Regards,

Louise

I did drop it down and no problems.  That was also confirmed several times by blues on this board....

You MUST do it by 4/30.....
