Effects of someone cancelling a bid

I’m pretty frustrated. I have a listing of Cabbage Patch dolls, clothes, pony.  Two bidders went back and forth early in the auction. Opening bid  was $10 and within  a couple of days the bid was $27. Yesterday the high bidder wanted to cancel her bid because she didn’t realize the shipping was so high. eBay said that was a reasonable excuse to cancel. So my current bid is now $10 since all of her bids were cancelled.  I’m upset because there are only 2 days left for bidding. I was told that watchers, of which there are 9 I think, don’t know that the bid is lowered so they may not put an offer in thinking the current bid is $27.
According to eBay I can’t end the auction because this problem isn’t considered one of the categories in which you can cancel without going to “Ebay  Jail.”  The auction is worth more that $10. Any comments?

It's very common for most of the bids on an auction to be placed in the final hours or even seconds.  Try to be patient.  If the watchers had given up on the auction, they probably would have removed it from their watch list.

Who told you that watchers could not see the current bid? Watchers always see the current bid in My eBay.

eBay does not intervene when a bidder reracts a bid. They understand how absolutely foolish it would be to forcea buyer to purchase an item he clearly does not want.

"Who told you that watchers could not see the current bid?"

I think they mean that watchers won't be notified that the current high bid showing has dropped from $27 to $10.

IMHO it's a moot point: If they weren't willing to pay more than $27 before, they probably still won't be interested in outbidding the remaining bidder whose proxy bid is $26.

If they're watching they have it on a list in order of "ending first" where they can check where it's at. If they're interested they'll check before the end, and maybe some check just out of curiousity to see what it sold for (I often do this on things I'm outbid on).

You run a risk of it ending at $10, it's a chance you take. Many things can go wrong with an auction. Just hope for the best, if one of your watchers wants it and the price isn't too high, they'll place a bid before it ends.
