I just sent this message to eBay via their Facebook page as I don't know another way to ask this question:
"due to your recent changes in dolls categories I cannot list any of my doll clothing. I continue to receive error messages telling me to list only in dolls category instead of doll clothing. However I am only selling doll clothing, I am not selling any actual dolls. Here is an example, Item ID: XXXXXXXXXXXX. This is doll clothing with no doll but it will not allow me to list under category for doll clothing. It keeps rejecting the listing unless I place it under dolls- which I am not selling. This doesn't make sense at all. It is requiring me to list doll eye color and ethnicity of my doll- but I am not selling a doll. I am selling clothing. Can someone please advise how to get around this? Is there no longer an ability to simply sell doll clothing? Thank you."

“I just listed doll shoes and they were placed here Dolls & Bears > Dolls, Clothing & Accessories > Dolls & Doll Playsets. It does not require all item specifics be filled in, just those that apply.”
I find that confusing. Basically, this is the “category tree”: Dolls > Dolls > Dolls
Dolls and Bears should at least clearly break down to
>Dolls
>Doll Clothing and Accessories
and > Doll Playsets (whatever that is)
But somehow, doll shoes ends up in a Dolls category at the very end, titled “Dolls and Doll Playsets” instead of a Doll Clothing category? How does that make sense? Its bad enough to have hundreds of browsable categories gone, but its even worse to have the few that remain not make logical sense.

@dhbookds Yes that is exactly what I was saying. Yes, the category for clothing remains but you cannot list in it. When you try you get an error message saying that you are in the wrong category and to select another. Can't get passed that.
I'm seeing other folks saying eBay says it will be fixed which is what I expected. Why have a category that cannot be used? I am patient and will wait this out. Thank you for the comments.

Yes I know not everything is required, but if you don't fill out enough categories to get that full circle your listing doesn't get as much prominence in searches. By listing clothing in the doll category you cannot get the full circle as you still have to fill out eye color, hair color, ethnicity, etc. That's why I am trying to list clothing in the correct category.

This right here.

Now that there was funny and I don't care who you are.

This unnecessary change of categories is ridiculous!! As a vintage jewelry seller, I know that my customers like to scroll through the category for what's come in new. All of my categories are gone - Bakelite & Plastics, Victorian jewelry, Designer signed costume, Signed sterling jewelry, Scandinavian, the list goes on. Now it's just generic bracelets and charms or antique pins. I called last night to complain and also the night before. PLEASE!! I encourage all of you to do the same. If enough of us call, they sometimes listen and change things back.

Who told you it would be well again by the 19th? I called and they said I can complain but it most likely will stay with the new ridiculous category options.

Just one example: Not all dolls are the same size. But for some reason, ebay thinks they are, I guess. Some are toys, some are collectibles. Some are baby dolls, some are barbie dolls, some are fashion royalty dolls, some are … the list goes on.

IMHO they want to drive small sellers away.

I sell a lot of pearl jewelry, however the items specifics wants me describe all the diamonds I'm allegedly selling. If had diamonds, I wouldn't be selling on ebay. It's total joke & time consuming. ebay corporate and their merry band of geniuses (not) deserve all the negative outcomes of these ridiculous changes

That's definitely a lot less funny and a whole lot more like reality.

Good morning, I too sell Barbie doll clothes, no doll, just clothes. I am rather confused to the new category listings, but I just go with the flow. E Bay canceled one of my listing because they said it was put in the wrong category. Well it was the category they offered! So I relisted the item this morning and used my original category that was not available yesterday, I will see how it goes. Take a deep breath and hold it, then release. I don't understand the change, but if I want to sell my items I have to go with their rules.

I have to take a really long deep breath because between my different stores, I have 2000 items to go through and see where they put them and then change to the closest bad option I have. I expect to have carpal tunnel by the time it's all done. Why not leave well enough alone?
