I just sent this message to eBay via their Facebook page as I don't know another way to ask this question:

"due to your recent changes in dolls categories I cannot list any of my doll clothing. I continue to receive error messages telling me to list only in dolls category instead of doll clothing. However I am only selling doll clothing, I am not selling any actual dolls. Here is an example, Item ID: XXXXXXXXXXXX. This is doll clothing with no doll but it will not allow me to list under category for doll clothing. It keeps rejecting the listing unless I place it under dolls- which I am not selling. This doesn't make sense at all. It is requiring me to list doll eye color and ethnicity of my doll- but I am not selling a doll. I am selling clothing. Can someone please advise how to get around this? Is there no longer an ability to simply sell doll clothing? Thank you."

Hold off on listing for a while, eBay have advised that apparently all will be well again by the 19th

As ridiculous as it seems just list under dolls, close you eyes to reason and skip what doesn't apply. It forces you to put something in, just write anything and junk up the category. Not your fault.

Or you can stop selling like I have hoping they revisit their decisions. I do not believe they will. I've already almost ceased buying. I buy new items at better web sites and it's getting difficult to find vintage items due to the issue your facing.

@collectfest Thank you for commenting. Yes I did just list under dolls and threw logic out the window.

I can get behind eBay's wanting to change categories and understand they make changes which affect everyone, blah, blah. I may not agree with it all but I can understand the why for their own purposes. However I don't understand why making us list clothing under a category for actual dolls when there remains clothing categories for dolls. If they had simply done away with clothing categories is one thing but the categories are still there, only you cannot list anything. Perhaps this is just a temporary glitch.

I too see the doll clothing category in the search. Having said that that DOES NOT mean that is what sellers faces when completing their listing. I thought the OP was discussing LISTING issues NOT searching issues.

Well, I think its superb that you have a positive attitude about the whole thing. I do not as I am sure you can tell, lol. I have just decided, as a seller and buyer, that they have crossed a line for me. I am a vintage seller and buyer. I am finding venues that respect that through their actions.

Do you believe this site is promoting the vintage collector? Do you believe it promotes antique collecting with the same vigor as say social causes? Both are important but I thought this was a resale site.

I don't, but I am very aware this is their site and respect their rules. I am just fighting for the interests of collectors. If that ruffles feathers, so be it. They certainly have ruffled mine lol.

@cubano4u I'm confused..............there is a sub category under dolls for doll clothing....... do you mean when you try to list with that category, it gives you an error message?

what will be fixed in 7 days?

Christmas categories changed months ago, still a mess. Today, I had to click on over 50 boxes on the left side of search to remotely find ornaments that I use to find in two or three clicks. That's a fact.

I was told I would be able to sell coins over a year ago, still cannot.

The last update on my seller hub page under announcements is October 9th Seven Questions with Ken...

I'm not holding my breath. That line came out yesterday 7-10 days. Looking forward to things calming down by the 20th. I am sure the boards will calm down.

I just listed doll shoes and they were placed here Dolls & Bears > Dolls, Clothing & Accessories > Dolls & Doll Playsets. It does not require all item specifics be filled in, just those that apply.
