Due to two hurricanes, and the residual flooding, I had to cancel an order for an item that was in a tub I didn't know had a crack and flooded. The shoes were destroyed. I cancelled the order choosing the "damaged" option. Ebay hit me with a defect and refuses to remove the defect, or to tell me why they can't remove the defect. I have no control over the weather! How do I get this defect removed? I have 1407 positive feedback, have been selling since 2014 and have been Top Rated for all this time.

I read over the protections ebay posted for hurricane Milton and most seem to pertain to shipping delays. I didn't see anything for damaged items that couldn't be shipped.
One defect shouldn't hurt you. I have one right now and it does make me super cautious not to get more before it drops off.

I had two previous defects. Ebay seemed to "relist" things that had already sold on ebay. So now I'm faced with a drop from my Top Rated status. I already see that my sales have suffered from this. I've asked to have the defect removed. Ebay denied the request, but refuses to tell me why they can't remove it.

It's unfortunate that this happened (I once lost $3000 in inventory due to flood damage), but Ebay cannot adjudicate for various mishaps sellers have among 18 million of us. Our inventory and its safety is our business. There is no other reason.
