Hi!
I sold a laptop with a broken screen, for parts, no returns.
Buyer (in Ebay messages and return request) admitted to taking it apart and trying to repair. He was unsuccessful. I have no idea how he has further damaged it.
Buyer requested return, with reason "defective" which I reluctantly accepted after talking to Ebay on the phone. I was told that I could at least deduct 50% due to being top rated seller after it came back.
Laptop has been returned, and now I see no place to make a deduction. My only option is to refund 100%. No way to deduct, no way to open a case, (which I would not mind taking a chance on.)
Suggestions?
Thanks!

Altogether now --- the protection does not require free returns.

Then explain the screenshot that shows the information regarding returns when the item has been damaged or altered and what qualifies for a 50% refund. According to that page that I screenshot and linked, the listing must have free returns.
I mean I did the research and corrected where I was wrong and I'm still wrong. how's that work?

Ok i think the confusion here. Is that there are TWO policies.
And they overlap a bit.
There is a TRS seller protection. This doesn't require free returns but does require TRS.
The other one id say it falls under the abusive buyer policy / altered condition policy. This one requires the seller be above average and DOES require FREE returns.
Only TRS can deduct WITHOUT FREE returns, but both policies require 30 day returns.

I looked at the link in your above address & it showed the TRS protection which only requires a 30 day return policy. I know that is correct because I’ve used it and I don’t offer free returns.
