Just a simple poll for the Community.
Do you think the GTC format is beneficial for your current eBay needs?
IF eBay gave you a choice????
Would you have said Yes or No to a GTC format? This is a simple yes or no question.
This was a very interesting poll posted about two weeks ago. My sales are down approximately 40% from last month and I feel the GTC policy is the primary reason. In my opinion It creates a lot more work/time to manage and takes a way the "sense of urgency" from potential buyers. I feel is it horrible for small/mid size sellers and will result in additional fees if sellers are not very careful.
Now that it's approaching a month since it was made the only fixed price option to sellers, what is your opinion?
Thanks

After a month I would say GTC has ruined sales quite completely. Not sure why. Something about a buyer's mentality that eBay thinks it understands but does not. I assume the net result of GTC has been quite bad for eBay, but I have never known eBay to admit an error or back away from a decision.

GTC is one big headache to manage. 30 days is easy, so no,but ebay are not listening,

so you say yes to no choice?
That is not the OP's question. The OP asked if we would choose GTC if there were a choice ... I said yes I would choose GTC.

The rationalizations amaze me of those who defend this issue.
You are reading something into my reply that is just simply not there. I'm not defending this issue (or eBay's imposition of this policy) ... I specifically wrote that I think eBay should not force this on sellers.

Don't so much object to GTC, but would like the option of Automatic relist preferences like that available to auctions now. Like 'relist once if not sold'. This would at least take a bit of the burden of watching and manually ending a listing. All-in-all, jury still out.

Apparently you are unaware that many people who post on these boards use a "posting ID" as opposed to their eBay seller's ID. That is just in case you say something really offensive, it doesn't reflect on your business.

Big fat NO from me. Sales down 35% since GTC. No urgency to buy has hurt me. I don't like GTC, and I don't like the way the forced the change. I disagree that our voices on the boards and phone calls to customer service do no good, I think they are watching. The fact that they delayed the GTC change in Canada tells me they might be having second thoughts. I want my shorter duration listings back. I don't like my stuff sitting around for a month. I am definitely downgrading my basic store, I haven't decided on a starter or no store at all. I have branched out to other venues as well.

GTC is not working at all for me. 😞

Absolutely hate it!! Again, Ebay makes it harder for the smaller seller to have some control of their business. I do not have the time it takes to monitor what items are going to go off, and then take the time to end the listings before Ebay hits me with more fees, which I believe is the whole idea behind this nonsense. What else could it possibly be??? You don't even give us the courtesy of asking us? If we wanted GTC, we had that option. Currently seeking other venues that allow me to have more control of my business. I have been selling on Ebay for more than 15 years, and it just gets harder and harder as Ebay changes the rules every five minutes, always in theirs and buyers interest, even though the sellers are the ones that make Ebay their money.
