Just want to throw my hat into this. I dealt with the constant changes to requirements for TRS but this one is just too far. Im not mad or anything just a little dissapointed. I put a lot of effort into my store, making sure i always kept 100% positive feedback, but this new policy is going to attract major scammers. All because eBay wants to be more like Amazon.
I have been thinking of dropping the store for a while now anyways and this seems like a better time than any. So to all of those who are going to try to keep TRS, good luck!
(Yes this is an alt account, i dont make forum posts with my business account)

I lost TRS because sales exposure is dismal.
I am going to 14 day returns, buyer pays, w/ 20% restock fee.
My items are well described & pictured.
I am not paying for remorse.

I'm sure I read that eBay is doing away with both 14 day returns and restocking fee options. As stated before, we already pay for remorse when a buyer lies and uses SNAD. I chalk it up to the cost of doing business here, document each return shipping I pay for, then write it off on my taxes.

The SNAD argument is pretty reasonble, some bad apples do abuse the system however not all of them do, offering free returns would not be abusing the system though, it's just using what is offered. Which is going to increase return rates.
How many free retuns is that TRSP discount going to pay for? Unless you sell an extremely large quantity of items, probably not many.

You can't use a general statement about returns due to the different categories selling on here. Those of us who sell clothing, electronics, books, CDs may see an uptick where those that sell postcards, stamps, craft supplies probably will not.
That's why the one rule applies to all really doesn't work here.

@ymeagainlord wrote:Tbh I very rarely have ANY returns anyway, but I'm, like others, just sick and tired of the constant push push to act like megastores. I'll still offer returns, 14 day where I can and 30 day where I have to NO GD, NO Free Returns AND 2 day handling.
eta: and I bet it doesn't make ONE scrap of difference to my so called "visibility" or sales.
Starting in May, there will be no more 14 day returns (or restocking fees). Per eBay, sellers will have to choose from :

eBay is doing away with 14 day returns AND restocking fees.
The five return policy options will be:

I too have very few returns (maybe 1 every 3 months) and the reason has always been some type of buyer's remorse. One buyer tried to pull a false "item not as described" and eBay had my back. I have already switched to "no returns" and I'll be downgrading my store to the $7.95 month-to-month option. I have over 5000 FB on my selling account from happy buyers. The few neutrals only reflect that the buyers didn't pay attention to what was advertised.

There will still be 14 day returns allowed in a few categories. Their explanation is confusing to read though, in my opinion, so confusion rules.

If you don't mind my asking, how many listings do you generally have going? I'm debating dropping my basic store too, but am on the fence. I'm also not doing free returns but may keep my current return policy.

Does anyone know what categories those are yet? eBay really needs to be clearer about things.

I have about 30-40. Currently have a 14-day return policy. Will keep that if it's an option for my category, but I guess I won't know until the new updates come in to play next month.

Never mind, found it. eBay spring 2018 returns
"Categories that will continue have the option to offer 14-day returns include Collectibles & Art, Cameras & Photo and Medical, Mobility & Disability Equipment."
"Restocking fees will no longer be a return option"
Looks like I'll be doing "no returns". I'm already noticing that eBay keeps defaulting to 30 days returns for my items. If I try to select 14 days, it just switches to 30 days.

If it is so few- why does ebay not offer to foot the bill on the labels? They cut the discount of being a power seller down and now expect us to offer free returns. Just a thought!!!!

I have specifically called out eBay 2 times now for psychological abuse on their Twitter feed, and I was not kidding. When you look at the messages, the tactics, the consistent control mechanisms, God forbid you have researched "social control" or use it on your job in research.
eBay implements formal and informal means of control at an alarming rate. My page has this message for almost 2yrs now.
"Possible offer to sell outside of eBay detected - Review our policy" - when I contacted eBay, I asked them to explain to me which message triggered this since I don't entertain selling outside the platform. They had no answer. I then contacted other departments and even went to Twitter, all in vain.
I know why it's there and why they plan to never remove it, I just hope other people are seeing this too. At this point, I'm only getting rid of old inventory and misc items around the house and have passed my timeline for leaving eBay but at the same time I've bought and listed NO NEW inventory and never will again on eBay.
I do have an exit strategy, it's just sales have fallen so dramatically it's taking longer than I had hoped for.

I'm losing my TRS (dropping below 100) on May 22nd. Perfect timing! I might try "no returns" and see what happens for a couple of months.
I'd love to see a 7 or 14 day option.
