Has anyone seen this new layout for listings? I have a button on my last listing called 'click button to view entire description'.
There is a completely blank screen unless one clicks that button. There is NO description of the item for sale until you click this button and then the description opens in a separate window.
What is this all about - an I in a test group?

Is this recent enough?
I think that one is too recent. ???? 2011 is too old. Perhaps 2012 -2013?

Oh. Holy. Carp. Seriously? I saw this "test" last night and didn't even realize it until I saw this discussion. Thought I was looking at the worst listings ever and backed out. So I can tell you flat out that as a buyer last night, my only impression was bad listings by lazy sellers. Yeah, I saw the "button" - it was not at all obvious what it was for. It appeared to actually BE the entire description. Your idiot squad won't see any feedback from me - I did not hang around and click more buttons to offer feedback as I was entirely uninterested in playing games. If I want to click buttons and play games I have way better games than "find the description" on ebay. They already messed up the ebay app for ipad, I have hated it since the last major update and already gave my feedback in the app store about it, along with about a zillion others who hate it. Clearly the geniuses at ebay didn't bother reading the reviews of their app in the app store or they'd know they're making it worse with every iteration. And now this. Hey, let's make the desktop version more like the ipad app that everyone hates. That everyone told you they hate via the reviews in the app store. --tap tap-- Seriously, anyone in there? Anyone not clueless?? They are different platforms - there is no useful reason for them to be similar. --tap tap--

What a pain in the back side. I awoke to 4 people asking me to re-list an item because they couldn't see the entire picture!! These were seasoned buyers!!!! Waste more of my time answering than listing. Sorry, ebay it hurts you. Can't list, you can't make money!! How about asking your sellers before making such a STUPID change!!!!!
This test has nothing to do with photos.

I'm still waiting for someone/anyone to show me where I was disingenuous by linking to a post in a Weekly Chat form the past few weeks where we discussed this specific issue. I'll check back again later to see if they were able to back up their accusation.
Thanks, Jeff. Are you saying you want something more recent? From my experience the "board" search is not so hot. I will do my best. I appreciate your response.
It's been going on since Dec 2011 at least: http://www.ecommercebytes.com/C/letters/blog.pl?/pl/2011/12/1323625748.html
I've seen it mentioned countless times on these boards, and I'm certain it's been mentioned in weekly chat many times. I'm looking as well....
I'm not arguing that it hasn't been happening. My statement was that I was not aware of it. The response was that I was being disingenuous since it's a topic that has been brought up on every Weekly Chat for the past year. I'm still waiting on anyone to show me where it was brought up in any of the recent Chats. I'll continue to check back to see if they were able to do that, or if they were just making that accusation up.
Thats not surprising.
Post 4....and your subsequent response in post 10.... "We are aware of the problem"
We have seen no resolution over this ridiculous ONGOING issue that you obviously KNOW ABOUT, yet the inept work force deems it needed to hide descriptions of sellers items intead.
Who assigns priorities in there.......is anybody running the show at ebay?
Again, the issue from two weeks ago was a one-day issue that was identified and resolved in the same day. The issue identified in the Feb 4 Chat is not the issue being discussed here. The issue being discussed here had to do with the app.

Yes, it DOES have to do with photos because for sellers who do not use ebay's photo hosting, the photos are in the DESCRIPTION and usually at the BOTTOM. If a buyer does not scroll all the way, the in the open description window, then the pics are missed by the buyer.

So, only one Weekly Chat, not every week for a year? Is that the revised accusation?
The Mobile team was on that Chat, so they're aware of the issue. I didn't recall it. I don't know what else to tell you. I don't recall every post from every Chat, especially a chat that happened almost five months ago. I'll send a reminder to the Mobile team about this issue.
No,
see my post above.
the accusation is that you need to get with the program Jeff. We are tired of the round and round, and the bad attitudetoward your clients with real problems.
You were aware of the problem. You have been aware of the problem. The problem still exists.
WHY?
As for the specific problem, I don't work on the Mobile team, but I will remind the members of that team that customers are reporting that the issue still exists. In the meantime, if this issue is happening to you, please let us know by reporting the specific instance of when it happens and on which listings to CS so it can be addressed by the appropriate teams. Thanks.

How do they know it will negatively impact sales until they test? If it turns out to be negative, we'll drop the feature.
Did not you not previously reply that you do NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TESTING nor WHY? Those sellers impacted are just science eperiments for the next two weeks? People make their living here, and should not be treated as statistics. Just sayin'.
See your own post #197. What could be negative? What could be positive? If what they are trying to measure is secret? When will it be time to drop the feature when nobody knows what they are trying to measure in the first place. This has me very concerned.
I know what is being tested, but I don't know the specific measures that they are using to gauge success. If you submit your questions using the "tell us what you think" link, the team managing this test will get that message.

"Revised accusation" ? What are you talking about? I hope you're not directing that remark to me. I'm not the person who said it was in every weekly chat.
The original accusation was that the issue had "been brought up in every Weekly Chat for about a year now", but your response was that "It has been brought up at least once in the Weekly Chat, long before February." It's a moving target. I am responding to the accusation that it had been brought up every week for the past year. My response is that that accusation is 100% false. If someone can prove me wrong, please do.
The accusation that it was brought up in September appears to be true. I've never said that accusation wasn't true, though, so I'm not sure how that factors into this conversation.

Jeff, if someone at ebay suggested that they test a description with multi-colored fonts with font sizes randomly varying within each word and cute GIFs of dancing bears between each word, would ebay test the suggestion?
After all, ebay couldn't actually KNOW whether it would negatively impact sales until they test it, right?
My point is, BEFORE any test is conducted, shouldn't there be a clear reason to believe that there's a good chance it will have a positive impact?
What is it about : "Let's hide the description, make the buyer click a special button to see it, and then let's reveal it in a pop-up that requires extra scrolling to see the description?" that would make any reasonable person say : "By gosh, THAT should improve sales?"
If we had a legitimate reason to believe that those features would increase sales, sure, we'd test it. Personally, I don't think it would and I doubt anyone else would either, so I don't think you'll see that one any time soon.
However, we do have a "click to see description" functionality live on our apps. They've been live for a long time and conversion through mobile apps has been very successful (you can see some of our mobile results at http://www.ebayinc.com/sites/default/files/MP%20Factsheet%20Q4%202014.pdf ). This functionality on the mobile apps does not appear to be an obstacle for buyers, so it's possible that it may not be an obstacle for buyers on the full version. We'll know that for sure when the test is complete.

We weren't doing Weekly Chats in 2011 or 2012. The Weekly Chats didn't start until July 2013. So, I'm not sure how you're going to prove that the accusation that the issue has "been brought up in every Weekly Chat for about a year now" by linking to Weekly Chats from years when we weren't hosting Weekly Chats or Weekly Chats that are more than a year old.
Again, the accusation I am responding to is here - https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/Click-to-view-entire-descripton-What-the-heck/m-p/23621864/hig...
