Click to view entire descripton??? What the heck???

Has anyone seen this new layout for listings? I have a button on my last listing called 'click button to view entire description'.

There is a completely blank screen unless one clicks that button. There is NO description of the item for sale until you click this button and then the description opens in a separate window.

What is this all about - an I in a test group?

Who...comes up with these things??? LOL I realize some descriptions are ridiculous and over the top but elimination them completely is not the answer. Maybe limiting the space. And the font size. Hello

We will protect seller from any issues that are the direct link to the test, but we're not going to protect a seller from any issue (such as ones not tied to the test like failing to ship an item) just because there is a test going on.

If the issue is related to the buyer not reading the description because of the test, that would be attributatble to the test, which as I wrote in my original message would mean the seller is protected.

I know that eBay employees can't read every thread and post, but it has been reported in the Answer Center for a long time, so I was hoping that you would have been aware of it and fixed it. 

I have never heard of any acknowledgement or fix or work-around, and as you can imagine, it causes a lot of buyer unhappiness, which the sellers are getting blamed for.

Here are some more threads that report the issue. All the responders have been able to do, is say it's a known glitch, so make sure you view the listing on your computer before you purchase it. Which pretty much defeats the purpose of using a mobile app, I think.

Specific to this issue though, the claim was made that it had been brought up in nearly every Weekly Chat for the past year or so (if I remember the post). I was called disingenuous for not acknowledging that. I'm still waiting for someone/anyone to show me where I was disingenuous by linking to a post in a Weekly Chat form the past few weeks where we discussed this specific issue. I'll check back again later to see if they were able to back up their accusation.

"Wow, this is great, I like it"

So, if you have an entire team working on this, don't you think at least one of them 

would have actually used his brain and said

"I really think this idea sucks"

Is everyone working at ebay really this incompetent? Or are they just really having 

fun screwing with us sellers?

Please share the feedback (positive or negative) with the team that is running the test. We run tests in order to see how new features might improve the site and sales. The alternative is that we just implement new programs and features without testing. I'm not sure that's what people want either.

Would it not have been wise for Ebay to put up an announcement concerning this Beta testing to warn not only sellers but buyers that there would be an additional step involved to read the item description on some listings.

I know that not everyone follows announcements but a lot of us do. Hence - less outrage and confusion as those of us who read the announcements could have explained it to the rest on the boards and then you could have come in to answer specific questions - maybe without so much outrage.

It was more likely cancelled to make way for the 2015 Spring seller update (which btw already has a board up)

This is one idea(and I use that term loosely) that absolutely should have not made it to 'testing'. It shouldn't have even gotten past the design stage.

We do tests all the time. All the time. And, letting people know that we're doing a test sometimes affects the results, so generally, it's not the best practice to announce the tests.

If you have any questions, I'll be glad to answer them if I can.
