So Ebay is going to force me to use Priority Mail, when my choice was 1st Class, as the item is under a pound??? We are constantly trying to reduce overhead due to the ridiculous changes Ebay keeps making.

I did figure out that if I enter 15 oz, instead of the pre-populated "Under 1 lb", 1st class pops up. Wow.

I started a thread on this on the shipping board and have not gotten an answer. I also cannot convert to classic shipping page and 16 ounces is converting to 1 lb and cannot mail it first class! Still waiting for an answer. There are several of us with this problem.
I know you can put 15 ounces in and it works but what if an over zealous postal worker weighs it, sees it is actually 15.7 and charges you 1 lb which is priority and you get dinged the difference?

OP --
are you clicking on "Classic Label" at the far upper right corner of the new label page?
I do that, and it gives me a screen with a FIrst Class choice.
Most of my shipments are First Class.
I have no problem with this. If you key in under 16 oz for the weight (not more than 15 oz. to be safe) you will have a Firs Class option.

I understand exactly what you're saying. We tried to print a 16 oz. first class label the other day and this new great view that Ebay has force us to switch to and it converted it to a Priority label which oh cost $3.00 more to mail. The classic view which allowed us to print 16 oz. first labels until this week is gone. I called Ebay and the Rep. really didn't seem to understand the issue. She advised us to mail it directly thru the post office. I asked to speak to a supervisor and one call me back about 2 hours later. He really didn't have an answer other than the classic view is no longer available. He said he would check with "upper management" and get back to me by Saturday. I'm not very hopeful he'll be getting back to us with good news. We send out about one hundred 16 oz. packages a year. That's another $300 of additional cost out of our pockets if this isn't corrected. Where does it end?

Do you have you item insured? Did not think 1st class came with insurance...

Why would you insure? In over 10k packages I’ve lost fewer than five. Insurance always benefits the house (Usps)

I keep waiting for my option to "go back to classic shipping" to vanish. So far it's still there for me. Am sorry so many others are losing it. Imagine my turn is coming soon. Also love the tip (for when it does) to just choose 15oz for your item. Then 1st class is there. Gawd I am hating all the **bleep** changes they are hitting us with! Hang in there every one. I still buy a lot here. If you all leave, where will I get my odd one of a kind goodies?!

I am completely confused by this topic. 16 ounces is 1 pound and has been since I went to grade school over 50 years ago. The shipping label page is not doing anything different, 16 ounce packages have never been able to ship on a first class postage label.
In response to the poster who wrote that first class is only for 13 ounce or less, that was changed by the USPS 2 or 3 years ago, used to be up to 13 ounces. That change saved lots of us who use 1st class tons of $$$. Unfortunately, the zone charges now in effect (Jan 19) have negated some of those savings.

As far as I know you can still only ship first class to 13 ounces if you ship retail at the po. The up to a pound is only available online.
