Problem with high demand items is you have so much competition you are making very little profit on each one but you do have more items to ship out keeping you busy and making up for the low profit by selling quantities of them.
I like making more on my items so I stay away from easy to get inventory. This way whenever the postal service raises fees or ebay does or your supplier, I don't need to refigure if I am making a profit or not here on my item. I don't need to worry if it is going cross country or not to see if i make a profit or not. I can absorb quite a few fees before I need to revaluate what I sell.
Also when you do find something that sells well, it usually only lasts a few months or sometimes just a few weeks depending on other people jumping on your meal ticket and chasing everyone down the drain by undercutting the next guy. so you always need to be on the look out for new stuff to sell. This is one reason why I don't post with a selling id here, to keep my items more profitable for a little longer while I search out the next gravy train.
Oh, that is right, my advice is worthless here because I am a troll that doesn't sell. 🙂
Good luck on what you find to sell. I will give this advise though, Do you have something that is in good supply in your area that might not be available across the country ? Yes, you might think it is expensive but you need to think how much would this be worth in some other state besides where the factory/business is located at. Think about it.
Again good luck what you decide to sell.

Some good advice there fuzz.
I might add this, one of our beloved posters who lives in Hawaii had very good luck with local Starbucks coffee containers and couldn't keep them in stock. So I started collecting some with different cities on them and they didn't last a week.
Now this was out of my realm to sell these but I gave it a shot and now I grab all I can. It won't last and probably interest will fade but I'm going to ride the wave for now!

I work 2x weekly in a thrift shop and have for over 8 years, you never know what is coming thru those doors!
You just have to get out there and look, I used to think well I won't buy this because I might get stuck with it. Not anymore, if I doesn't sell, it's donated to my thrift. I'm taking chances now.
Well said!

And used Starbucks cups sell well, esp in lots - have sold them for years!

I travel 2000 miles every 2 weeks to fill up a U-Haul trailer with leads and meetings with private people collectors, then come home, go through it, list it, then go again.

Don't listen to these sellers.
Just buy out the entire inventory of what they sell, increase the price on it, and then list it back up on eBay.
That way you're guaranteed to be selling the most profitable items and you'll be the only one with the inventory.

Hey - I'd be on board with that in a New York minute - I need to clear out my storage!

And the sale of it often entitles one to free room and board for extended periods! What's not to like?

Hi, you can find the trends and what’s popular to sell on eBay with the WatchCount.com website. It is a good resource when deciding on products to sell. Good luck!

Ask the sellers from Sri Lanka. They always have great items for sale.
