Has anyone had issues with non payment from buyers? Sometimes they will completely ignore me or they'll respond several days later saying they're waiting for a check. If you don't have the money at the time why did you bid? One buyer won 5 different Barbie outfits, I combined shipping, but she never even responded. Or how about when they go through a bidding war up to $80 or more then when the auction closes there's no response. Not even from the second chance buyer. It happens with a variety of items and it's so frustrating.

Make sure that you're cancelling these buyers' deadbeats' orders on Day 5, citing 'Buyer didn't pay'. This will give these buyers deadbeats an Unpaid Item strike and you'll be able to relist. It's the protection that helps all us sellers the most as it will put these deadbeats on the radar. Sorry you had scrub buyers.

It is frustrating, the only way around it is to list BIN with immediate payment required.
Of course in saying that I realise some items are better suited to auctions, so just make sure you follow the correct procedure so these tire kickers don't bother sellers again.
If a buyer hasn’t paid within 4 days, on the 5th day you can go to your Seller Hub to cancel the transaction using the “Buyer hasn't paid” reason and this gives the buyer a strike and you can relist. In future to have eBay automatically cancel your transactions due to non-payment:
Go here: https://www.ebay.com/Cancel/Preference/UnpaidPurchase
Set your buyer requirements to 2 strikes (NPB) in 12 months and this will help keep them away from you.
Good luck with future sales

Yes. This has happened to me several times. It is frustrating and requires patience until you can cancel the sale for non-payment. That will "ding" the buyer's account so make sure you say you are canceling the sale (only when the date posted says you can) because of non-payment.
One step you can take is to prevent buyers/bidders with 2 or more non-payments in the last six months, etc by managing who can buy from you in seller preferences. I did this and it is working - so far. 🙂

These are sport bidders. They have no intention of paying you. You're not running a lay away plan so they can pay you later. They're not going to pay you at all.
If you want this type of behavior to stop, avoid auction style listings with best offers and list all your items at a fixed buy it now price with immediate payment required checked off. Sport bidders and non - paying bidders steer clear of these listings as they must pay instantly. Make sure you block these types from further annoying you as well.

@metal_babe - This ^^^^^^^ is critical. At 2 non-payment strikes, every Seller can block these IDs. Do not "cancel" the orders - it requires patience to wait the 4 days and cancel on the 5th. Make sure your Buyer settings are up to date to do this at 4 days.
Good luck! Numpties are the worst!

Just adding to this recommendation: choosing 2 strikes within the last 12 months is the most restrictive and the one most sellers should be using.

Yes! I feel your pain. I've had several people (in the last couple months in particular) not pay. And it's getting pretty frustrating. I always cancel after 5 days and make as a non-payment, so hopefully that will help us in the long run. Hang in there!

I’m convinced these are fake accounts created by people who are selling similar items as you. They’ll outbid everyone on your listing and then never pay to tie your item up. This forces people to go to that person’s listing instead.

What convinces you of that?

I've got 2 right now! I hate this! I mean one of them actually accepted MY offer....then No communication/no payment. When are they going to make them pay after offers??

eBay has no way to make them pay. You, however, can cancel after 4 days citing buyer did not pay as your reason. I assume you're routinely doing that?
08-23-2022 08:54 AM
eBay can require them to submit a payment method when submitting/accepting a best offer....they said they are going to roll this out. It needs to be done asap!

For me non-paying buyers mostly reside when I send offers. I have about a 70% NPB rate from that.

Happens way to often and eBay really doesn't care about Sellers. They cater way to hard for Buyers but I understand why they do because thats how they bring the money. I'm just surprised they took away the ability to block 0-2 star accounts .. I totally thought that was a thing where you could block brand new accounts but not the case anymore. Now new buyers will just walk away no problem thinkings its no big deal. eBay should do it like Mercari where when you submit the offer it Auto takes your payment with it.... Same for bids... When you get the winning bid it Auto Pays (maybe within 24 hours) for whatever default payment the buyer sets... This would make buyers much more careful on bidding items and more fair in my opinion... It makes no sense because eBay states in their agreement that a bid is a binding contract yet they don't have to put up any money... Like we are just trusting their good for it.
eBay should be better but their not.
