Why does a seller have to fund a canceled item, when the buyer wants to cancel the transaction? I mean as a buyer my funds are on hold so why doesn’t eBay just reslease the money back to the buyer? How am I as a seller guaranteed I get that money back? Plus Taxes and fees? This seems really suspicious on eBay’s part! Takes some responsibility eBay instead of just cashing in on the money from fees! It’s your platform not mine.

Add a CC to your account for fees.
This is exactly why they ask for a credit card on file.

The issue here is they are holding a cancellation hostage until you pay them...
30 cents 🤣
If you'd gone through it you'd be just as irritated as the rest of us

This is the link to the Winter Seller update (you can find this at the top of the boards under Seller Announcements as well)
https://pages.ebay.com/seller-center/seller-updates/2022-winter/business.html
It does not indicate the Buyer cancellation has to be requested in one hour?

False. The thing is, I still don't get why someone who doesn't sell from a different country is here peddling misinformation. What is the purpose of this? Do you really think I can't link to this post?
@espresso_warehouseThis will be my final reply to you, fun as it always is..............
I am going to ask you politely on the boards, in public, to please top referencing the fact that I am from Australia and what would I know about anything in the US.
There are many posters here from other countries and prior to ever posting here I came to these boards when MP was introduced in Australia to see how things were working out for the sellers here – mainly reading the payments, selling and Mentor boards and allowing me to offer assistance to our sellers over here that were struggling with the MP concept.
While it is no business of yours or anyone else’s why I enjoy posting here, please believe that although I am an Ozzie, I can read and retain information, so I do answer where possible.
I am sorry my presence here seems to anger you but seems Australian’s (or me in particular) are your achilles heel

Either back up your claims or move on. I don't care where someone is from or if they sell or not - what I care about is the inaccuracy of the information posted and question the motivations of those of you who seek to build some kind of personality here as opposed to answer questions accurately.

Can you clarify on this? The winter update link does not state this.....is the update going to be clarified in writing?? TIA!

Weird, it should have replied to the prior post....
@mr_lincoln - as a Mentor/Visionary....has this came up for mentors? The winter update written text makes no mention of a 1-hr window?

Tyler has answered this in another thread. It's been variously linked to, screen captured and so on.
If there is more current information please let me know.

@katzrul15 Further down this thread Tyler mentions a 1 hour time frame for Buyers ... the Help pages makes a statement that leaves the topic of a Buyer cancelling open with the verbiage "Buyers can request a cancellation, but generally only sellers can cancel an order." Okay, "but generally"??? Either they can or they can't sounds like they can't. (first link top of the page). In the 2nd link there is a section titled "Cancel an order you made in the last hour" THIS "implies" a Buyer can do it but the process has eBay sending a message to the Seller about the request to Cancel. And further down the page is the process for the Buyer to request a Cancellation directly from the Seller after 1 hour.

With so much confusion, misinformation and outright false claims being made about this situation even as it is now, any additional clarity is appreciated about what the update will bring.
I, for one, am glad we are past the denial stage of this. Accounts are obstinate that the practice isn't real.

Nowhere does ebay policy state that funds will be released for a buyers cancellation request. Funds are only released under specific reasons outlined here. Again the funds are not released until the item is delivered OR a dispute has been resolved
Show me where is specifically states the a payment on hold is relesed to the buyer when the buyer requests a cancellation.

This has zero to do with what the OP was asking about.
They just want a credit card for the 30 cents. Once they get their coveted 30 cents, from OP's credit card, OP will be able to proceed with the cancellation.
Until then the cancellation is held hostage.

It is a temporary issue for any seller. All refunds, no matter why they are being processed are funded by your Available Funds in MP. In the case of refunding on a Cancelation the buyer's payment is likely sitting in Pending funds. It is likely in less than 24 hours the buyer's payment will move from Pending to Available and simply zero out the transaction.
The buyer won't get refunded again so no need to worry about that. It is a simple process, so don't over think it. If youn want to see the fees that were refunded to you, go to your Seller Hub, hover over the Payment tab. From the drop down menu select transactions. You will see your refunded fees there.
You are jumping on Ebay and it just isn't necessary. You are making incorrect assumptions because you don't understand. It really is just that simple. You will be just fine.
