Buyer wants partial refund for a, so far, 1 day delay

They purchased an item on Saturday night. I print the label almost immediately. I put the item in the mail first thing Monday morning. Monday night, they message me asking if they can get the item faster. I tell them it’s already in the mail, there’s nothing I can do.

It’s going across the country from end to end. The estimated delivery was the 26th. I shipped it priority 2 day mail. At 4 AM this morning, the 27th, I received a request “can I have a percentage back because of the delay”. I’ve never had a buyer this impatient before. What should I do!? It arrived in their state yesterday

USPS sells a priority 2 day shipping service and a week later it is still in transit. Where is the service you paid for?

Re: Buyer wants partial refund for a, so far, 1 day delay

I see a time coming when buyers are going to catch on to this. I have a package in ohio mailed it priority 8-12 its still in transit. The mail is not reliable anymore. Ebsy sent me sn emsil that my gundd were on hold customer reguest. What if it doesnt get there in the alloted time i regund then its delivered. Customer doesnt get there on time i regund then they deliver. Im out sale and merchandise. Lots of scammers out there. I have another package worth 50.00 post office transposed the zip it went to houston supposed to go to origan. Post office no hrlp at all. I started thinking about decifef the msil wadnt safe any longer. I switched to fed ex. They are higher but maybe it will get there. Would love to hear from some of you that may have a better idea.

If you didn't ship the item on time the person is entitled to open a case.  They expected a day before you sent it.  Things do happen and when the tracking shows it's delivered the money will go to you, but the buyer can add the item to your late delivered items percentage which can affect your score.  Person is impatient, and that's why they wanted it delivered quickly, but don't give him a refund unless you want.  You didn't follow through. I don't understand all the replies against the buyer.  Some people order items that are time sensitive and expect it to be delivered by that date. Sometimes it's the post office but this was the seller who mailed late.

Re: Buyer wants partial refund for a, so far, 1 day delay

I am curious what was the estimated delivery time on the listing for this item?  I wonder if the buyer knew this was a cross country shipment.

I think if you shipped within your handling time and the item arrives you should be covered (follow advice by others about tracking info).

I would also track progress in a site like ship24 (there are others) some times they have better info then eBay or the PO.  If it doesn't hurt dispute process, I would keep proactive positive communications with the buyer. I have found that helps with delivery issues. Let them know you are tracking as well and keeping an eye out. Also, let them know if it doesn't arrive you will of course take measures to remedy the situation

The OP did ship on time and with priority 2 day mail.

The buyer can get a refund forced from the seller by ebay because USPS doesn't honor their 2 day shipping and don't deliver, and ebay could care less what the delay is.

Ebay always refund an item not received claim when there isn't a delivery scan.

So here, the seller did everything right but ebay will give refund to the buyer.

No. The purchase was made on Saturday night; the post office is closed on Sunday; the seller shipped it first thing on Monday. There was no possible way to get the package into the mailstream before Monday morning, and eBay would not recognize that as a late shipment.

Have you ever shipped anything before in your life? That’s not a 100% guarantee service. I did use priority

How am I supposed to ship an item out on Sunday? It wouldn’t move anyway.

The estimate was yesterday, the 26th. It reached their state yesterday. Thanks for the knowledge of ship24 I can see on there that it just went out for delivery

Re: Buyer wants partial refund for a, so far, 1 day delay

Oh my goodness, now the tracking has fully updated and it says there was a search case opened for the item like an hour before it went out for delivery. There was never any reason to suspect it was even lost. They opened a search case for it the day after it arrived in their state smh.

Remind them politely that Monday was a holiday, and eBay’s arrival time is only an estimate.
