They purchased an item on Saturday night. I print the label almost immediately. I put the item in the mail first thing Monday morning. Monday night, they message me asking if they can get the item faster. I tell them it’s already in the mail, there’s nothing I can do.
It’s going across the country from end to end. The estimated delivery was the 26th. I shipped it priority 2 day mail. At 4 AM this morning, the 27th, I received a request “can I have a percentage back because of the delay”. I’ve never had a buyer this impatient before. What should I do!? It arrived in their state yesterday

Well hope the item gets delivered and they do not as soon as they can file a case against it....
If they be a news purchaser they might just not know the whys and hows of eBay and truly be nervous...
Make sure if you are communication with them to give tracking and the updates on the items location...
What I would really like to say to some of em is:
SO Sorry: I have not found a viable time machine to get you your product 5 days before you purchased it....

That is ridiculous!! Sorry you got this psycho customer. Personally, I would ignore them and if they persist, I would politely tell them that you did everything in your power to get their item quickly. Why don't these people understand that when the package is dropped off at the post office, it is out of our hands?

Sorry I should’ve clarified. I’m still waking up lol, they made an actual request for a partial refund and eBay said it has put the funds on hold now. It wasn’t just a message

Sorry I should’ve clarified. I’m still waking up lol, they made an actual request for a partial refund and eBay said it has put the funds on hold now. It wasn’t just a message. I don’t know how I am supposed to respond to this. I just message them through the request? Or should I wait to respond after it’s probably delivered today?

First, you go into the dispute and upload your tracking number where indicated. You must do this, even if the label was originally printed via eBay. Next, send a note to the buyer (again, doing this through the dispute console) to assure them that you are following its progress and that it was in (location here) as of this morning or whenever it was last scanned. (To be clear: do this much now; don't wait for later.)
With that done, if the package is delivered as soon as you expect it, that should be within the 5 days or so that eBay gives you before they would close the case as Not Received. When the tracking status updates to Delivered, you should see the case closed very soon after that, usually within a few hours.

open a case already: enter the tracking number in the case,
it will not find it on eBay>
Be very careful entering it < not easy to redo if you make a typo...

Thank you, I went ahead and added the tracking details and left a note saying that it is in their state now.

@cyberenddragon92 I would also check how much handling time you stated in your listing for this item. If you had any more than same or 1-day handling time, the item would have more time to get to the buyer. Especially since the PO isn't open on Sundays. I have 2 orders today that I had to open Lost Mail with the USPS because it appears stuck in their system. It's taken 7 days to go 40 miles.
The buyer may also be intentionally taking advantage of the slower delivery times to get some money back. If they wanted expedited shipping, they should have asked before they purchased (and paid for it).
Ebay states that once the buyer notifies you that there's a problem, the seller has 3 days to provide a delivery update, offer a replacement, or give you a refund. https://www.ebay.com/help/buying/returns-refunds/get-help-item-hasnt-arrived?id=4042
You have provided an update. All you can do right now if hope it gets delivered. Also, check the tracking on the USPS, not just what ebay shows. Sometimes, the ebay tracking is never updated to show delivery.
Oh, and I would add that buyer to my Blocked Buyer List asap.

Don't let this customer "rip you off" for a discount. I would tell them that USPS does NOT guarantee delivery and leave it at that. I am assuming YOU don't offer "guarantee delivery".
If they keep complaining tell them to "return the item" for a refund. Customers are lazy...they won't return the item.
