Buyer just messaged me that I overcharged him on shipping and owe him $3 and then fired 10 + messages calling me names, bringing up fair trading, etc., etc., etc... and the last one he just said "bad feedback coming your way" ... after already threatening me with bad feedback on message 3 or 4.
Buyer hasn't even received item. Item was going from GB, WI to Fort Lauderdale, FL, weighed almost 2lbs and cost $8.70. He said it shouldn't cost over $5!!! On what planet?!? Have a feeling because I did not refund him or engage, a false inad is coming.
Not even sure what to do with this?!?

An attorney who is worried about a few measly bucks?
Probably flips burgers somewhere.

Yes. Item was shipped on 8th. Approximately item had been in transit 2 days when the extortion and threats started yesterday. Expected delivery today, but looks like it’s still in transit and maybe not being delivered till Tuesday? Whereas I’m guessing by his past feedback history, the fun begins?!? 🤔😂

"He has left neg for another stating the Fair Trading Act babbling"
What is the "Fair Trading Act"?
And did the buyer actually use the unique spelling of "behaviour"?
Perhaps the buyer is originally from New Zealand, which actually has something called a "Fair Trading Act," which may apply in this case -- but only in New Zealand.
So watch out, OP -- you may have caused a huge trade war with New Zealand!

Shipping fees are non-negotiable after the buyer purchases the item since they have already agreed to your terms since it is a “contract” they are signing once payment is made. They could have negotiated shipping fees with you before purchasing but they did not.
The fact that they are trying to blackmail and/or threaten you with litigation suggests they are not who they say they are and are only trying to manipulate you.
Remind the buyer they agreed to the shipping terms once they purchased and paid for their item and that shipping is non-negotiable, block them, and report them to Ebay for feedback extortion.
As others have mentioned, a real attorney would not be worried over a few dollars and would be aware of the conditions.

This is nuts! All of this is over $1.20??
He's threatening you with bad feedback, he's harassing you all for $1.20 handling fee which last I heard we are allowed to charge a reasonable handling fee ... and all of this before he even received his order. This guy is a few sandwiches short of a picnic, as they say.
He is obviously not reasonable and I wouldn't even try to reason with him. He is clearly 'fixated' on 'his cause' this Fair Trade issue and nothing you say will change his mind. He didn't deserve the refund but I'm sure you just wanted to try to get rid of him.
I've charged that same amt. handling fee many times over the last 20+ years and never heard a peep back except for how happy they were with my packaging. My supplies cost more than that. You got a live one here, sorry you have to deal with this, but we all run into these types from time to time when dealing with the public. If he's a criminal lawyer, why isn't he fighting the criminals instead of fighting with you? He's delusional, let eBay deal with this. ~ Good luck!

That's my first line of inquiry as well: see what his track record looks like. This one's a real prize.
My guess is that he does this to every single seller as a strategy to get a full and complete refund on whatever he buys. Maybe he saw some YouTube video on the subject.
Given his history, it does sound like a Neg will appear regardless of what happens next, so your mission at that point will be to try to get eBay to remove it. I would not bother wasting a Feedback Revision Request on him; that will go nowhere (though he is probably anticipating you doing that).
I do not recommend doing this, but other sellers might have left false Positives for him trying to warn others about him. if you scroll through his Feedback as a Buyer, you might find some... or you might find Positives with no comment at all, which would suggest the same thing.
If you can get a live person to look at the Negative feedback(s), should you receive one yourself, you might be successful in getting it removed. Keep us posted and good luck.
P.S. @selsa84 : Who is/was Floridaman?

You think the one message I included was a little lulu you should’ve seen the many MANY others he fired off, back to back to back to back and then even more!
This was one of the “mild” ones. 😂😂😂

Commercial AND criminal attorney? LOL.
Even if there were such an animal, he abviously isn't one, seeing as criminal attorneys typically DEFEND those accused of crimes (he may be thinking of a district attorney, those prosecute crimes).
Oh, and attorneys generally do not serve papers. In addition, as far as I am aware, parties to a lawsuit cannot be the ones to serve papers.
So much fail in the buyers chest beating.
Reminds me of the ones coming here to announce their class action. Maybe the buyer will file one of those too.

I can just imagine. I'm sure it's a lot of ranting that probably gets worse with each email. So don't aggravate yourself by communicating any further.. I've dealt with people like this for years (I'm a social worker). That's why I say no amount of explaining to him will do any good. Just save everything he sends you & deal with eBay. If/when he leaves a negative you should be able to get it removed. From my own personal experience I know they don't look kindly on the feedback extortion thing. Just sit tight, it should all work out for you. 🤞🤞

You haven't done anything wrong.
The equation is simple:
If price+shipping=good deal, buy it.
I am a volunteer here to try and help others, so be nice and remember - My advice might well be worth what you're paying for it.

Social worker? Much respect. That's a thankless job for sure. Damned if you do and damned if you don't.
