Did you mean:

Buyer lied about condition of item, will not return, and left negative review.

I bought a ssd drive from a popular retail store in clearance and sold it on eBay the next day. The box was sealed and advertised as brand new. A few days later I get my first negative review from that buyer claiming the box was not sealed but the item was in great shape so she still wanted to keep it. The seal was clearly visible on the pictures I took for the listing!! I sent the buyer a very polite message explaining the situation and asked what I could do to resolve the issue. Should I reach out to eBay? What do I do?

LEAVE IT ALONE. Let them respond to your message first. Look at their feedback left for others and see if they have a consistent pattern of leaving negatives. If they respond and ask you to partial refund, just tell them return for full refund. If you see many negs from the buyer to other sellers you may have an abusive buyer. Ebay might remove the feedback if that is so.

I would try not to worry about that.  It's a shame they couldn't have been more kind since the item was fine and they were happy with it.  I looked at the photos and couldn't see a seal myself, but I guess they were going by your words.

I actually once mailed an item I thought was new in a sealed box, but unknown to me someone had removed the item from the bottom where flaps were interlocked and not actually taped.  The top had a taped seal.  My buyer was kind and didn't even leave feedback.

Buyer says that the item itself is fine and she will keep it.  So just leave things alone.  One neg will not hurt you, especially given the nature of this one.  If you continue to poke this sleeping bear, things will get worse for you.

Listen very carefully to this advice. I could not have said it better myself.

Let the sleeping bear lie. Do not further poke it with the stick and antagonize it.

The negative was a slap on one side of your face and a kiss on the other. It's not going to hurt you. Move on.

Let. It. Go.

You have some very experienced sellers giving you outstanding advice on this.

If your goal is to have the feedback removed, remember that even if you gave a partial refund, there is nothing that would force the removal.

Offer refund on return. If she doesn't return it you can add a Response to her FB " Offered refund and return shipping label. No response. She kept the doohickey."

Some of us are actually recommending she just drop it. The seller is happy with the purchase (second half of the "neg".  She hasn't contacted the seller for a return nor a partial refund. The seller just needs to drop this and make the sale. Take the half neg/half positive and drive on.

That neg would not stop me from buying from them. Their rating is still 99.3%. Mighty fine.

That’s feedback extortion. It’s against the rules. They won’t enforce the rules and your negative feedback for the attempt will remain. If you haven’t had a neg removed in a while they MIGHT take it off if you call a million times. The fact that it’s extortion won’t get it removed. How recently you have had a neg removed is the only factor they consider.

Dont give them a partial refund. Make them return it. If you give in they know it works and will continue to do it. Be a team player, don’t give in, and maybe you can save someone else from dealing with the same thing.

100% feedback makes one a target for this. If you have 100% you might want to keep the neg so you are less of a target. The scammers and extortionist know they can push 100% feedback sellers around.

Clearly you read something I didn't.  Where in that FB the buyer left did they make ANY demands on the seller?  There is NOTHING in what the buyer said that breaches one of the FB rules.  But if I missed something, do let us know what it was they said and what rule it is they broke.

Extortion sure as heck is a reason to have it removed, but there is no extortion here, not at least that I see.

Did you remedy the problem?

It is there.  Are you sure you looked at the Ops account?

No need to call Ebay, there is nothing they can do to help.

They absolutely can, they can remove the negative feedback.

No, there is no cause to have it removed.  Nothing they said breaches any of the FB policies.

What is it that you think breaks one of the rules?

@mam98031  Possibly could get it removed because there are positive words with the negative??  Tough call.

Every word in a negative FB have to be a negative word.  There isn't a requirement for that.  In fact they wouldn't have to use any negative words.  They could have used flowery statement to express their dislike for the transaction, it would still be a negative transaction that doesn't break the rules.

I think you are confusing it with positive FB with a negative comment.  That is against the rule for SELLERS, but not buyers.

Sorry, I must have clicked on the wrong person's feedback.

I see it.

Pretty straight forward.

Does not appear to violate any ebay policy.

I don't think the OP can get it removed by ebay.

The only recourse is to get the buyer to remove it ... which would probably require a partial refund and a lot of sweet talking.

I agree.

Responses are possible, but usually not helpful.

They draw attention to the FB for one thing.

What makes you think feedback "breaking the rules" is the only feedback that gets removed?

You have been here long enough to know better than that.

@mam98031  ...I think you need to read that statement with just a touch of sarcasm and let it go at that and have a good laugh.

At least that was my reaction.

That one was my laugh for the day. Eh...it might have been my second...

I read that one too and wondered where the extortion was. I could not see it. I was going to reply to it but you did a much better job at it.
