I have been with ebay for over 25 years and I don't understand why ebay is allowing buyers to leave negative feedback because they found me to be "uncompassionate". It is my first negative feedback received ever. Of course I appealed and ebay says that sort of feedback does not violate policy. Ebay shows zero loyalty for those in my position and allows abusive buyers to leave damaging remarks based on a how they feel. This seems plain wrong. Is there anyway to communicate with ebay concerning policy change requests?

The catch there is why would a seller pay to ship a broken worthless item back to them? Most sellers would simply issue the refund without paying for return shipping.

Well.. it would cost $8 to get it back.. youve already wasted hours on the forum, with ebay and with the buyer that covers the $8. And having a 100% account has inherent value. If youd rather soak the neg thats your choice i guess. Its not removable now.

Thing is I came here when it happened and asked for advice on how to handle it and got consensus that my response should be what I left (I actually copy and pasted the response recommended by a very experienced user). The advice was to leave the response completely devoid of emotion.
Opinions vary, as does advice on this board.
For instance, I would never use the abbreviation "MBG" in a feedback response because I doubt many prospective buyers looking at your feedback would have any idea what it meant.
I stand by my opinion that my proposed response would do a better job of reassuring prospective buyers reading your feedback.

I stand corrected. I always thought eBay encouraged buyers and sellers to communicate and negotiate a resolution over filing a dispute.

Yeah, it has changed a lot since I joined in 1997. The buyer trying to bypass being on the radar and then chewing me out for not accommodating definitely raised a red flag. Check out the messaging as to how they accused me of making it a whole big thing because I requested they follow the MBG process.

The item was $ 25 but shipping was over $ 60 and No returns accepted was on the listing. The piece looks small, what did it weigh and how far did it ship to cost $ 60? I could be wrong but that seems like a lot to ship something like that.
To your point above, I can see why a Seller would not want to pay $ 60 to have an item returned that only cost $ 25 ... that's a big hit.

If you check out some of the dialog in the PM's I included in a response to genv you will see the buyer left me negative feedback right after I requested they use the MBG process. IMO they were being unreasonable and I guess I made the mistake by assuming I could get ebay to remove the feedback because I also the buyer violated policy when they requested refund by bypassing the process.

The buyer litterally confirmed in the message and fb that he left a neg bc the seller wouldnt refund.him without return...
This would have been an ez removal.. the people on the forum really let this seller down

Where are you coming up with $8? And why would I pay to have a worthless item shipped to me? I do not consider it a waste of hours if someone eventually answers the one and only question I asked in the OP. I must say your contribution here appears hostile toward me and I don't understand why?

I did see that. But that really has nothing to do with my point about the wording of your response.
IMO they were being unreasonable
No argument here.
I guess I made the mistake by assuming I could get ebay to remove the feedback
I would not call that a "mistake". Just too optimistic.

Like I said I am looking for a way to open dialog and lobby ebay concerning that policy. You still have not said where you came up with $8. It seems ridiculous to have to pay for having a worthless item returned just so one can file an appeal. What actual information would ebay get if a worthless item is returned before they can make a judgement? I am clearly not challenging the item arrived damaged.

Yeah, it was the weight that drove the price that high, it went across the country (west coast to east coast). The item is rare which is why I am not surprised someone paid that much for shipping but I would definitely not pay that to have it returned if it was destroyed. I don't see why anyone should have to pay any amount for shipping on a worthless item just to be able to appeal feedback or have ebay review the messaging showing they buyer tried to get me to bypass the process???

When did you noticed that the buyer leaves negatives for sellers. After they left you one?
Did you not review your buyers profile feedback and Google map the address before shipping? it takes only about 2 to 5 minutes to avoid a headache. Time well spent.
Google map offers a street view and satellite view which looks to be more up to date. If still questionable, ship with signature required.

I honestly do not understand what point you are trying to make? I did look at the buyer feedback profile and it was iffy then but not iffy enough to stop the sale. Since then the pattern of leaving negative feedback continued and I would have blocked the buyer from buying if it were as it is now. Signature required has no relevance on this situation. Like I said the package arrived undamaged in appearance from the outside and there is no challenge concerning the buyer received the package ???
