Buyer having items sent to different addresses possible fraud

I have had this buyer buy the SAME item over and over, but send to different addresses.  I contacted ebay since this just seems weird.   They said it looked fine.  Okay so fast forward a month or so and I receive a phone call from a person who I had sent one of these items to.  She took a few hours tracking me down off the internet... which is scary in itself..... but necessary, to tell me she never ordered this item.  I asked if she had an ebay account and she said she did.  I told her to change the password on that and her paypal if she had one (since most of us still have one even though ebay took payments over).  I then contacted ebay again and said they really really need to look into this.  IS THIS BUYER seeing if the address they have matches up to the credit card they have?  Will they then, after seeing it is delivered, charge a larger amount?  I tried contacting the FTC, but this poodle is done jumping through hoops.  2 people I talked to just don't know what I should do.   SOOOOO if you are experiencing this, please report it to ebay.   The other sellers listed who gave feedback also have a bunch of items purchased in a row from this buyer.  I am suspecting the same thing.  I would be nice if we could all work together to nail this person if they are a fraud, which, if a person didn't order something... how did they have their credit card?  Sorry to ramble but I wanted to put this out there if other sellers have this problem.  I know we are protected under the seller protection policy, yes, but I am not getting any replies from the "buyer" so  I want to block them but I also want to put a note in each package asking if the person ordered it and if not, check their credit card for a charge.   Yet, who is paying me to investigate?  lol. I want to help if the "buyer" is unaware, but  I also don't want to be part of his scheme.  Thoughts?

I think I will unblock the previous buyer then and lower the price.  I just wanted to be sure I wasn't being used as a pawn in a fraud scheme.  There is so much credit card theft these days and people being victims of it that my radar just went off.   Thing is I did email this person several times and there is NEVER a reply which is sort of worrisome.  I am an honest seller and I posted this to help others out.  Thanks for your reply

Why shut it off?  I am asking for thoughts on the matter.  In all the 21 years I have done this, this has never happened.  With so much fraud out there and people using other people as scape goats and framing them, I was being cautious and asking for help.   Simple as that.

Interesting article.   Nice to see helpful answers there.  For me over $20 isn't a cheap purchase so it may just be less suspicious.

Did you try asking the buyer?  Simply saying it kind of scares you that someone reported they didn't order it or have a fish tank?

Re: Buyer having items sent to different addresses possible fraud

-A sells rotten apple for $30

-B sells everything New but he don't have them

-C ordered New apples from B for $70

-B buys rotton apple from A and have it ship directly to C's address

-C is not happy with the rotten apple and wants a refund

-B started a return with A saying the apple is rotten

-A sends a return label ( o.O? I sell rotton apples tho )

-B pass the return label to C

-C returns the item to A

-A issues a refund to B

-B issues a refund to C

A loses time and $$ on shipping

B loses time if C is not happy, if C is happy he make $40

C wasted time

Re: Buyer having items sent to different addresses possible fraud

B's return label will not work for C.

While B is waiting to get a return label from A, C is asking eBay to step in and is getting refunded directly with B's money.

B can't return the rotten apple to C since A still has it, so B is out the full amount of the money paid by C, plus B loses what B spent to buy rotten apples from A.

A gets paid for selling rotten apples.

C gets rotten apples plus a full refund.

B is out the money spent on rotten apples and has nothing to show for the scheme.

I have been trying to contact eBay to make sure everything is good on my account and to explain this situation well and I refunded their money back right away these listings were only up for 2 seconds
