Buyer did an address correction through Fedex and I got charged

I sold an item with free shipping, shipped it through FedEx, and the buyer did an address correction while it was in transit (which costs $20) and now I have to pay for a shipping label more than double the cost of what I should've been charged. The buyer never contacted me about this. Can I do anything about it?

Wouldn't you need to contact FedEx?

worse if they file an item not received you will lose the case.

STOP USING FED EX......

If not received yet file a intercept and get the item back.

I've been using FedEx for close to 18 years and have never had this happen.

The shipper is the only one who is able to make changes to the shipping address, unless, and only if there is signature required on the shipment. Then the recipient is the only one who can make any changes.

I would contact FedEx and inquire about this if there was no signature required on the package.

If there was signature required, I would tell FedEx they need to bill the recipient for the changes.

Wouldn't the buyer lose protection by doing the address correction after being shipped? It's supposed to be that way with forwarded mail so would think this would be similar.

If filed it would be not delivered to addy on file: seller loss,

then the seller can try an appeal, may or may not win.

Since the purchaser should not have been able to change addy say with fed ex: (I sure do not know who did, nor will eBay) proof the purchaser did will be required, or seller loss.

In fact, I thought eBay had a special arrangement with FedEx to disallow any attempts at redirecting the package by the buyer (and eBay was the FedEx accountholder, not the seller). It was mainly to prevent Item Not Received scams by the buyer (who could otherwise redirect the package and then file an INR because it wasn't delivered to the original Ship-To: address), but should also have prevented that $20 fee for changing a delivery address that should not have been changeable in the first place.

Been using Fedex for 22 years almost exclusively but in the last 4 months I have all but quit using Fedex. There has been a huge shift in that company and corruption runs rampant from top to bottom.

1.  You selected the shipper, not eBay - contact your selected shipper.

2.  Never shipped via FedEX in my life.  Only dealt with UPS one time and was once  too much

3.  USPS works fine for me for personal and when I used to ship my  eBay sales  packages - price  was better and  - ship time AOK, ony 1 damaged package (my fault), and 2 lost packages - which I was  reimbursed for including the  labels cost.  Can't recall USPS delivering  any of my first class stamp bill payments late ( didn't  do on line payments until some time in early 2 2005. or not receiving m Captain Midnight decoder ring back ions ago..  had to sen   two quarters in a stamped envelope and a box top off of Kix cereal  to get it ( late 50s, early 60s?)

We use Fedex, but our own account.  There is not a mechanism where a Buyer can alter our shipping directives without Fedex coming to us.

Call fedex and dispute the charge.  I would also BBL this Buyer and report them from the transaction view - get this sorted out asap - something is amiss.

Did you print the label through eBay?  If so, then the Fedex account be ebay's account and I believe you would have to handle any problems through eBay, not Fedex.

I don't use Fedex but as most people have said that they will not redirect at the buyer's request, are you sure that is what your charge is for?   It's very common here to see posts from sellers who are billed quite a bit more than they expected. Fedex does add on surcharges that are not always seen on the ebay calculator.

Same here. I use my own account. Many years ago when I opened mine I was able to link it to ebay and get their discount.
