I'd be upset too.  That isn't fair.

See if you can get it removed.  Start with this link.

Go to the Seller Help page. Towards the bottom of the screen you will see a place to click on to submit the feedback for removal.

https://www.ebay.com/sellercenter/protections/seller-help

It usually doesn't take long for you to get a response on this.  But when you submit your request, make sure you explain the buyer asked you to cancel the transaction.

Good Luck.

I wouldn't get my hopes up with the Seller Help feedback removal system though. It's been whacky lately and would probably say feedback comment doesn't violate policy.

The buyer will have until ....so and so date to either revise the feedback or decline your request. If they decide not to respond or decline your request, please respect their decision?

But the Buyer didn't Buy Anything?

The Buyer reviews your revised rebuttal and he makes the determination 🙂

At least you don't get buyers like i do, haha

EBay doesn't use feedback to assess member accounts.

Neutrals don't count on your FB rating.

Any future buyer who reads it is likely to think "this seller cooperated with a reasonable request".  (And if he doesn't think that, he is too stupid to deal with.)

It's not a problem. Move on.

would just reply to the feedback with "buyer requested sale to be canceled".

This happened to me years ago, but was a negative and ebay refused to remove it, but I swear somewhere now it says if a buyer cancels a sale, that they cannot leave FB or it will be removed.

new feed back rules are a joke.  this company is void of any common sense and is so misdirected to think that having an honest look at a feedback and removing it is going to somehow upset the balance of the universe. I just had a neutral that they refused to remove- buyer said the item was not as bright as picture......listing had 18 pics of every possible side WITH camera flash AND WITHOUT camera flash to accurately represent what was being sold.

Buyer never made contact or asked for a return( we offer 30 day returns). And buyer never answered direct messaging after the fact either.   One one feedback feature that ebay should have made and did not was to make it so neg or neutral feedback cannot be left unless they first have a messaging dialog with the seller!!!   That would prevent curmudgeons from just leaving unwarranted feedbacks.

I do agree that if you truly have a bad experience and the seller was not responsive-then yes, bad feedback is a protection to the ebay community..... but when it is completely subjective and opinionated such as whether or not the item was bright enough?.....   for all we know the buyer had his monitor brightness down, perhaps they are color blind or contrast challenged....maybe they have cataracts.....  Everywhere else in the world- "a picture is worth a thousand words" but not on ebay.

That doesn't mean it is being "wacky", it means the seller doesn't agree with the findings.  The two are different.

If you don't get the result you want after doing this, it is time to contact Ebay directly.  It will help you if you have the policy you feel the FB is violating handy so you can refer to it.

That is ONLY if the seller sends the buyer a feedback revision form.  Which is NEVER a good idea to do unless the buyer and seller have agreed that the buyer will change the FB.

Revision forms have a 7 day life span.  If the buyer doesn't use it within that timeframe it can't be used later.  The seller also can't send a second one on the same transaction.

Also if a seller is going to issue one, they need to give the buyer the heads up that they will receive an email from Ebay so they can revise the FB.  Inside the email is a link for the buyer to make changing the FB a breeze.

What "new feed back rules"?  Which policy or policies have changed?

I see you were able to get the feedback removed, CONGRATULATIONS.  That is how it should be.

No.

The idea is that a Cancellation is an agreement between buyer and seller that the transaction should not proceed.

So leaving feedback should not be a problem.

Recently eBay started calling the automatic 96Hour Unpaid Item closing a "cancellation" which was a poor choice of words since it is not a mutual agreement.

At least the deadbeat gets a Strike.

With those "UID cancellations" the deadbeat cannot leave FB.

I have a neut in the past "found my remote so cancelled the order" or some such. I thought it was pretty funny and just left it up.
