2000 positive feedback with 1 neg is 99.95% which when you are only using 1 digit after the decimal point = 100%

BINGO!  How a seller handles one transaction that goes wrong tells me more about the seller than how he handles one thousand that go well.

Wow that's the reply?

Oh my gosh.

For those buyers who actually read feedback that's just terrible.   So like eBay has guidelines and rules for feedbacks.  The buyer leaves one that seems suit their emotional being at the time and the OP leaves back a reply that breaks eBay's rules.

This is exactly why I don't gamble on Thoroughbred Horse Racing.

No that is not the actual reply, which you can easily see by clicking on the OP's feedback number: "Completely False & Unwarranted feedback, Customer never even allowed time for a resolution over their false complaint!, Please let my hard work & Positive feedback record speak for itself!"

We used to always have that calculation at our fingertips back in the days (pre-2008?) when eBay DID base your percentage on your lifetime feedback history. It was so discouraging!

Re: Bogus Feedback

It used to be you needed 400 transactions...if you can do that in 90 days, it would 'reset', otherwise it's 1 year (whether you hit 400 or not).

Not sure if they still do it that way or not as average 150 items a month, 450 over 3 months during spring/summer- but many of my customers put their items in a 'cart' so 4 items count as 1 'transaction' which means I never hit that 400 mark in 90 days.

Re: Bogus Feedback

The 400 transactions in 3 months threshold applies to TRS status, not to feedback percentage.

When sellers have a few thousand feedbacks, over years and years of selling, ebay should base the percentage on the total feedback received, rather than base it on a one year running total.

I don't see why ebay feels it's a good thing to impact a sellers feedback rating in this way after they have worked years and years to provide good service.

If a seller has cut back on their selling and are not listing/selling as much (not receiving as many feedbacks as they use to), but has accumulated hundreds of good feedbacks over the previous years, one negative can really impact their percentage, because it is based on 12 months, rather than their total selling record.

I would agree and it's also getting harder with fewer buyers leaving feedback, however if that were the case then a seller wouldn't be back to 100% after just one short year either.

Re: Bogus Feedback

That's not true.  After a year, it no longer counts toward the feedback percentage (although it will be available to see for those who spend the time looking).  At that point, if they don't get any more negatives, they'll show 100% again next to their username.

Re: Bogus Feedback

That's what I meant, as long as the negative is there you can't get back to 100%. Once it rolls off in 12 months you are back to 100%.

I was assuming everyone knew feedbacks roll off from figuring into your percentage (both good, bad and neutrals roll off) after 12 months.

For someone who doesn't sell alot of items, as your good feedbacks roll off also, the negative can in fact drop your percentage even lower than it did at the point it was left.

For example, say you have 100 positives and 1 negative at the time the negative is left. That would be a percentage of 99%.  So lets say in the next couple months 30 of your positives roll off, without picking up any new ones. Your running 12 month total would now be 70 positives and 1 negative or a percentage of 98.6%

So one negative can impact your selling even more negatively as the year goes on, depending on how active you are on the site.
