Blocking bidders with zero or negative feedback

Ebay used to have a way sellers can automatically block buyers with zero or negative feedback.  Is that tool gone?  I have had an influx of non payers due to this and it isn't fair that I should have to keep my item from actually selling to another until the 5th day.

"Now, we can only give positive warning to others..."  No, you can't, that is a positive/negative which is against feedback rules.

Not if you abide by ebay's feedback policy! Those "positive warning" feedbacks you've left can get YOU dings on your accounts if the buyers know enough to report them.

This ^^^^  is against eBay policy - you can not leave positive feedback with a negative comment and if that buyer reports you then you get a strike and the buyer get's to keep the green dot, minus the neg comment.

Instead of just rewarding bad buyers with another green dot, why not follow the procedure:

If a buyer hasn’t paid within 4 days, on the 5th day you can go to your Seller Hub to cancel the transaction using the “Buyer hasn't paid” reason and this gives the buyer a strike and you can relist. In future to have eBay automatically cancel your transactions due to non-payment:

Go here:   https://www.ebay.com/Cancel/Preference/UnpaidPurchase

Re: Blocking bidders with zero or negative feedback

ow, we can only give positive warning to others...

No.

Not only will the "false positive" be removed but eBay will penalize the seller who leaves it. I think the penalty is a Defect, but I'm not sure.

Anyway, who do you think reads those "warnings"?

Not other sellers.

Most use Fixed Price listings, or add Buy It Now our auctions, which means we only meet our customer after they have purchased.

Not eBay.

EBay doesn't use FB to assess member accounts.

Not buyers.

Your false Positive does not get read in a sea of green donuts.

And if by chance they do, how do they react to a seller badmouthing other buyers?

Re: Blocking bidders with zero or negative feedback

@showmecurrency4u

i should be allowed to block the fun bidders.

You can.

You can cancel any bid you like.

But not any purchase.

You can Block any member you like .  You can also Block communication from those Blocked members.

Cancelling bids means monitoring your auctions closely.

And it is unlikely that you can cancel manually in the last few seconds of the auction.

Re: Blocking bidders with zero or negative feedback

I feel like I am going to have to do something similar. I have some people that are asking questions and to reply outside of ebay instead of paying invoice. Thanks for posting something like this!!

Re: Blocking bidders with zero or negative feedback

I do Buy it now with Best offer.  The issue is when I accept the offers and they don't pay.

I read feedback sellers write which is where I got the idea to state that the buyer did not pay; there is nothing wrong with warning other sellers.  None of my feedback has been removed by Ebay as I am merely stating the truth.

Re: Blocking bidders with zero or negative feedback

It just wasn’t reported yet.

Others have quoted the specific policy you break when “warning” other sellers through false positive feedback.

Re: Blocking bidders with zero or negative feedback

I recently joined eBay and my 1st 4 sales were from the old Craigs list scammers- They offer outrages offers for items you accept and then they attempt to get you to give out personal data via an email they sneak through the system -I get hit with at least 3 to 4 offers a week from different user names but I believe its the same scammer with multiple accounts unfronuatly the best way to avoid is to decline any offer from a user who has joined at a minimum the last few days of offering you a bid- eBay has no way to report these scammers either unless you have a premium subscription - I just updeated my account to premium to start reporting these scammers - Worth th $60 dollars a month - Best of luck to you

Re: Blocking bidders with zero or negative feedback

Its not the issue with Zero feedback the problem is the scammers opening up fake accounts and bidding on your items actualy making high offers -you accept and the next thing you know they dont pay they attempt to get your iformation for payment like the old craiglist **bleep** scammers -I just started ebay and yes I started with zero feedback - Thankfully people bought from me and I have started to buid credibility but I was targeted and am targeted by I believe one scammer using multiple fake accounts set up between Aug 2022 and Nov 2022 _The issue is there is no way to report or to block these **bleep** thiefs

I think you mean the Blocked Buyer List - right?

https://www.ebay.com/bmgt/BuyerBlock?

The buyer exemption list is how you let a buyer IN when he is being blocked by other buyer restriction rules like too many Unpaids.

Re: Blocking bidders with zero or negative feedback

It did exist. We joined eBay in 2010. When we first tried buying, we were greeted with a message from eBay that we were blocked by the seller due to a low feedback score.  I contacted many sellers who were kind enough to unblock us and help us on our way.

Re: Blocking bidders with zero or negative feedback

@ikoolem2 No, it did not.

You would have been advised that a particular seller had restrictions set for no more than one sale in a set time to a buyer with FB of 5 or less. Zero/low FB has  never been available as a seller block.

If it were, how many new buyers do you think eBay would have gained since 1995 if they allowed that?

We all started with (0)

Re: Blocking bidders with zero or negative feedback

@yardsalestoauction

I just updeated my account to premium to start reporting these scammers - Worth th $60 dollars a month

No. It isn't.

Premium Store subscriptions give you more 'free ' listings* and the usual discounted fees, but any seller can report any other member.

https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/fees-credits-invoices/store-selling-fees?id=4809

And of course any seller can open an Unpaid Item Dispute after four days without payment. We can even set this up to be done automatically.

I would suggest using the social media Chats to ask an employee** to downgrade your Store subscription to Basic since you don't yet have even the 250 listings you get Free*** without any Store, although some Store subscribers find the reduced FVF make the subscription fee worthwhile.

https://www.facebook.com/eBayForBusiness/ — Message button in upper right on landing page.
https://twitter.com/askebay?lang=en
https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/How-do-I-contact-Customer-Support/m-p/32016431#M1783851 -> Automated Assistant, type AGENT -> enter. You will then get more options.

*10,000 "free" listings instead of 1,000 for a Basic Store, and a cost of 10c instead of 25c if you list more than 10,000.  The discounts on FVF depend on the category.

** The phone reps work for a sub-contractor in Utah.

*** Really free, since the Store subscription is paid every month whether you list anything or not.
