I've listed an item on auction with make offer.
Someone has made an offer which I'm considering.
In the meantime, if someone places a bid, does that automatically end the offer I'm considering ?
Tia.

If you have an auction-style listing with Best Offer, bear in mind that:

Not sure if it's the same in the UK?

No.
I have an item for $49.99 with 2 bids. But it didn't stop some buyers from offering me $29.99

What do you mean ?
Are you saying they made an offer via the listing, or they sent you a message?

It's been awhile since I've listed auctions, but it use to be If you accept the offer, the listing ends.

Hmmm, I had forgotten that little part of the policy. I'm trying to imagine telling a prospective buyer who wants my widget for a price I'm willing to accept that she/he will have to place a bid, then wait up to 7 days to see what happens.
She/he has already decided to buy the widget, johnny on the spot, and will she/he believe me when I say it's ebay policy or will she/he think I'm trying to get more money out of her/him?
OMG, I just googled "johnny on the spot" and the first thing returned was a Porta Potty rental company.

Yes. and I am even surprised that ebay lets the offer go through anyway since it is their policy.
