Bad effect because of good feedback

Recently had a buyer not happy about the sizing on a top and the item was only 8 bucks so I did a refund. ( it was a free people top, they run very very small which I stated in the listing). She wrote a nice feedback about her experience, so guess what, now I have another customer asking for a refund not return ( she said she discarded it). This time it was a nice Sundance dress, which was stated as dry clean only on the listing and in good condition and she is saying it "smells funny". I have this situation resolved but I think because of that review I am going to get a flood of refund requests.  I have not had a return for quality reasons before, only fit issues which I expect selling clothes. Has this happened to anyone else do I just need to weather the storm till this review stating how easy it is to get a refund is buried?

Re: Bad effect because of good feedback

I would not focus on a negative possible reason for the issues you are experiencing.  You handled them as you said, so move on and look for more positive things to happen to your business because you know how to handle things when they come up.

Give yourself credit for being pro-active and making the decision needed to solve your issues.  Many sellers are not as fortunate to have the experience and knowledge to handle things as you are.

You are entitled to succeed, so look for positive things that will help you get ahead.

Re: Bad effect because of good feedback

"Seller refunded me without hesitation due to me not being happy with product"

IMO THAT positive feedback is worse then a negative....

Not saying you did the wrong thing, but the buyer did you no favors with that feedback. You have to do what makes the best business sense for you. Everyone is different. And although you should "move on" be aware there is a good possibility of more shenanigans from other buyers and be prepared to "handle things when they come up" related to this.  Anyone that is less then honest who runs across this situation may buy from you just because you give stuff away.... You will either have to placate any/all of them or still end up with the negative you were trying to avoid. Just plan what you are going to do if other buyers try this. Again you may have made a good business decision for yourself, the buyer just put you in a tough position.

There was never yet an uninteresting life. Such a thing is an impossibility. Inside of the dullest exterior there is a drama, a comedy and a tragedy.

I agree with ebby... that FB, unfortunately, is going to attract scammers like moths to a floodlight. Of course, if you ask eBay to remove that comment they'll likely refuse.

Sorry this happened to you.

Re: Bad effect because of good feedback

Yup- a buyer requested a refund on an item bought almost 3 weeks ago. I am sure she wore it to an event and cashed in. You know buyers waste no time in sending a message about a problem, usually same day! I don't think the buyer who left feedback was trying to be devious but yeah when I read her feedback I groaned. Hopefully it will get buried shortly. Thanks for your advice. I notice a lot more "**bleep**" in midsummer and Christmas- the rest of the year seems to go smoothly.

Re: Bad effect because of good feedback

Totally agree that the buyer potentially created a problem for you--at least temporarily.

I recall receiving a feedback once that was something along the lines of honest, easy to work with.  I know the word Noooooo came out of my mouth when I saw that.  Odd thing was I had no communication or issue with this particular buyer.   I wanted to respond stating I'm not honest nor easy to work with---just kidding.

I'm thinking that this feedback, while "positive" could be removeable for it's possible negative affect. This one is kind of borderline depending on who's viewing it. You'd have to get the right rep, and one from the US, but I think it would be worth a try.

Good luck~

Re: Bad effect because of good feedback

OP, you need to start another id and dump this one.  That feedback is the kiss of death.  You will have constant scammers expecting you to just hand over refunds at the most minor complaint, because you did it with someone else.

OR get yourself a negative feedback that you can reply to that says, offered refund upon return, buyer refused.

Re: Bad effect because of good feedback

well you can only do what you feel is right and best... and sometimes it will bite you in the end too... BUT If you did it any other way , would you?

now as for this new nut, well the old return it for a refund seems like just banging your head, but maybe you say it... and if they open a case...you refund WHEN returned with tracking etc...

if negative fedback is your worry, well then you'll lose sleep... and could happen, but if its not returned and can't be showen it was..then maybe any feedback could be removed ...

but sometime its not worth the headach...even if it is two headaches....so.... do what your gut( i'm a gut guy)... and your Karma and sleep will be rewarded.
