May have an issue?

I just received a BO in some vintage bowls I have listed for 19.99. This person offered 17.00. Im ok with that. However im

pretty sure I didn't offer BO in my listing but the email looked official like ones I have received before. So I accepted without a problem. Then checked out her profile and find she is in Japan. All my setting in eBay and PayPal are set no international. Shipping is clearly marked on my end and PayPal is set to not accept anything other the USA pp account. So how did this go through? She hasn't paid yet and I emailed her and told her I don't ship international. No reply yet. When is it ok to cancel the sale? Better before she pays correct?

thanks

Robin

May have an issue?

The only time this happened to me, I sent the buyer a message asking if they had a US address to which I could mail the item.  When the reply was no, I apologized and explained it states in the auction I do not ship internationally, then cancelled the transaction.

If you're certain you did NOT offer international shipping, you should be able to cancel without penalty.  That said, a few of the items I relisted lately default to international shipping, and I've had to go in and change it manually, so make sure before cancelling.

Best of luck.

They are possibly going to use a freight forwarder. You would be shipping in the US.

Everyone has options. Just be sure the best option is right for you.

Odds are the buyer is using a forwarding service, so if she can pay you, you will find she has a USA address.  Some forwarding services, not all of them, also provide a US Paypal account that they will use to purchase the item, so the buyer doesn't run into the foreign Paypal issue.

If you do get paid, it will be because she is using a U.S. Paypal address.  If you don't get paid in 4 days, cancel the sale, but be sure to use the reason that there is a problem with the buyer's address.  That will keep you from getting a defect.

Japanese buyers are excellent.

If you don't want to ship international, block foreign currencies in Paypal.

For  $17 sale I would carefully pack and ship  them if she pays.

Thanks everyone. I did send her an email asking if she had a USA PP and a USA address that I don't ship internationally however she hasn't responded. Or take non USA PP for that matter as well.

OK just went and looked. shipping has all the boxes they offer me to check checked. And I didn't have best offer listed. How did she do that? it wasn't a personal email it was an ebay "you have a BO" The listing states immediate payment of 19.99 required. That is very odd. It's to cheap an item to be a scam.

Its not you. Its ebay. Seems they are tinkering again. Guess it worked, you accepted the offer.

Your buyer may have a US account, if they dont answer you can file the NPB and if they pay with a foreign address somehow, you can cancel using the option "problem with buyers address".

I doubt its a scam but yes scammers target low dollar items as well. If theres a US address, dont ship till you see the payment in your paypal account.

Because ebay now allows buyers to send in offers even if you don't want them. They will do anything to try to get a sale anymore - even if it was against policy a year ago.

I found a cache of that listing from June 24, 17. You did have best offer on it. You  must have misremembered.

That is odd. When I pull up the listing it isn't on there. Maybe it's because someone offered and I accepted? IDK Just wish it was done with. I am going out of town on Monday which leaves hubby to deal with this because scarce internet access at the lake house. Thanks for your reply.

You probably can't see the best offer now because the listing is closed now.

You definitely only had shipping to the US, though. I grabbed another screenshot to check.

Item location: Baytown, Texas, United States
Shipping to: United States

Excludes: APO/FPO, Africa, Asia, Central America and Caribbean, Europe, Middle East, North America, Oceania, Southeast Asia, South America

Just have it boxed up for him and all he has to do is slap a label on it. Go to the lake house and let husband deal with it...hmm...I wonder if that would fly at my house? 🙂
