Attempting to appeal Return case

I sold a Used condition guitar earlier this month and the buyer put in a SNAD claim saying that the guitar was not Mint Condition like described.

He proceeded to post microscopic details, photos of the guitar showing light marks (it's a Used condition).

eBay just ruled it in his favor and he took the money.

He then added 19 pounds to the return package (says he will soon explain why in his feedback), after I paid $75.00 to have to shipped directly to a FedEX Print center for further inspection.

My question is would it be better to appeal the case now or after I inspect it with my father-in-law (his guitar) Saturday morning?

When he opened a return, why didn't you send him a return label?

Re: Attempting to appeal Return case

I'm sorry you are in this situation.  It's always best to understate the condition of an item.  Perfect or Mint can lead to problems.  Best for the buyer to be pleasantly surprised, rather than unpleasantly surprised.  Some sellers have stated they deliberately down play the condition of items so their buyers get something better than they expect.

Light marks~used condition~not mint.

Re: Attempting to appeal Return case

I sell used clothing and I never even use EUC because I dont want a buyer to see a hanging thread and claim it wasn't in perfect condition.

Re: Attempting to appeal Return case

Technically two return labels were sent.  The first being eBay's own label which did not cover the full cost.

Then I paid $75.00 (like stated in the OP) for the label that worked.

Re: Attempting to appeal Return case

It was mint when it left my hands so he must be fraudulently swapping it with one in lesser condition.

It will be interesting to find out what the additional 19 lbs consist of. That's a LOT of extra weight.
Reality is the leading cause of stress.

That is why confused me.  I thought OP meant the buyer sent it back with the additional 19 pounds and the seller has to pay for return shipping.

Re: Attempting to appeal Return case

I'm a bit skeptical of this whole thing. He was supposed to ship it in the same packaging. That's the rule. My photos are crystal clear of the condition which is why I'm erring on the side of caution.

I understand but you seem to be contradicting yourself here, which is why I clarified listing conditions.

First you state it was described as Mint Condition.  Then you dismiss the pictures of the light marks on the guitar by saying, it was in used condition.

No offense, but either it is or it isn't, and you seem to justify that it isn't with your remark that it was in used condition.

Re: Attempting to appeal Return case

I shipped the item to the buyer @ 32 pounds.

Buyer wants a refund using a SNAD claim.

I (seller) created a return label for 32 pounds.

Buyer ADDS 19 pounds to the shipment, now 51 pounds. (He paid for the difference?)

Re: Attempting to appeal Return case

I am curious to know why the buyer added 19lbs. I cannot fathom 19lbs of packing materials unless he used bricks.

Re: Attempting to appeal Return case

Mint condition is subjective at best. There is no official grading scale for it. Nothing that I have confirmed. It's Used because it has been played before. And it's still Mint condition. So no, it doesn't have to be black and white, there is a grey area.

That's why I will be taking video footage at the FedEX Print Center when I pick it up.
