Anyone finding success with the new make offer feature?

Anyone finding success with the new make offer feature?  I've used it twice for about a dozen items each time without any sales.  Just wondering.

Re: Anyone finding success with the new make offer feature?

I’ve used it 6 or 7 times, for 3-5 items at a time.

Worked once.

Not a very high percentage but, given it only takes about 10 seconds, worth doing.

I haven't used it and no plans to try it.

I've heard some say they got a few sales, then some say, they didn't get anything.

Have a great day.

I would guess the make offer feature only works for those wiling to make a very good deal for the buyer. If your asking price is $60 and you send an offer for $55 the buyer would hit the back button. If you offered $40 you would have a great chance of making the sale.

I'm watching more items, hoping sellers contact me.

I have, but it depends why the watchers are watching. If they are competition, they won't buy. I think I have lots of competition staking out my listings because the "make offer" doesn't come up on that listing even if there's like 5 people watching.

I've noticed the number of listings showing up for me to send offers to has greatly decreased recently. Seems to me a number of my regular watchers have decided to opt out of these offers, so now i'm only seeing a handful a day. I started off with over 100 opportunities when I first learnt about this a month ago.

I think I get a 1 in 10 success rate on the offers. Part of it might have to do with how good the offer is. If I have a coin that comes up a lot and 10% doesn't work, I might start offering 15%. I try to imagine what the customer might like to pay and send out an offer.

I have best offer enabled on a number of listings (ones that have been around for a while), and it's a 50/50 between offers that come in for me to look at, and offers that are auto accepted. (Basically a 10-15% discount will give you an auto accept on many items). I don't know how many offers are rejected but I do know sometimes i see an offer at my bottom price and I go and look, I might see 2-3 rejected offers before the one that came through.

I often give an offer of 20% off, that's generally a good enough discount for most coin buyers (who are not resellers). Sometimes the offer is a $5 discount though (on a $50 item). Works sometimes, but not always.

After a successful sale I've been asked by the buyer how they can receive more offers on my items. I've told them to put the items on their watch list and within a day or two I'll send out an offer. (And if best offer is enabled, they can go ahead and make an offer).

I have on contrary been asked to "stop sending offers" to one buyer. I walked him through the opt out so he could watch items without getting offers. He bought a lot, so I'm sure he'll buy when he wants to, but wants to have a bunch of items to choose from for when he goes shopping (this is what I do, watch anything I might want and then shop when I can).

I've had success with it.  Usually give 20% off or so...  has worked on lower priced items.... not on high ticket items.

I've tried it about 10 times and no sales. Will keep trying.

Re: Anyone finding success with the new make offer feature?

I'm responding as a buyer, so this is the buyer's point of view.

If I find a listing I like, at a fair, competitive price, then I buy it. So you wouldn't get a chance to send an offer, if the price is right. Because I would already have bought and ended the listing.

Otherwise, I put it on my watch list. I have received quite a few offers this way.

If the offer is a fair reduction, I would say 20-25% in most cases, that brings the price down to the point I want to pay, then I buy it. I've accepted many offers like this. If the offer is only for a few percent off, then it probably isn't going to bring the price down to a fair price point. But it all depends on what is a real, fair, realistic price. That's what I will pay, and I buy immmediately when I see a real, fair realistic price.

But in many cases, the offer that was sent was only a few percent off the original price, and that price is still too high, even with the minimal reduction. Those I ignore.
