It appears that shortly it will be possible to leave 5 pictures when you leave feedback.
Buyers, of course, can already leave negative feedback for a seller. The pictures can simply reinforce that negativity,
BUT we all know that sellers can not leave negative feedback for a buyer so they try positive feedback with a negative comment. Usually does not work out well for the seller. Judging by the posts on these boards there are certainly buyers who various sellers believe deserve negative feedback. Scams, fraudulent returns, repeated bidders who never pay, etc. You know the ones.
The cynic in me says that there are those who will try to use the pictures to make a negative point. An upside down flag for example, a universal sign of distress. Picture of an empty box suggesting that is what the return turned into. A frowning emoji. Well you get the idea.
Going to be fun to watch. I wonder how many sellers will put their foot in it. 'Cause I've got to figure eBay will be monitoring it.

I buy a lot of things online. Occasionally I have left photos on Amazon when I was extremely pleased with what the product looked like furniture stuff. Some people may be so delighted that they will leave photos and that’s ok. It’s the one’s that like you say get miffed about something but that should not be an issue as long as sellers are doing the right things. I had some lady leave a bad feedback and send photos of a mistake THEY made. They bought the item thinking it was something completely different than what we had. In situations like that the seller should be able to get the pic removed.

They may be. I did not say it will only go one way, I simply said that it is likely that those that are more motivated will take the time to do that and often that motivation comes with anger. It is absolutely fine that you don't agree with me. It is likely the outcome will be mixed. Again, time will tell.

Wow I had not thought about that. Great way to cause a lot of havoc. So where will the extra customer support team be to deal with this?

I know I said it was a waste to have people sending photos to but I have to take some of that back because for some things it’s good to see like say how a piece of furniture looks in someone’s house, or other things after the buyer has it. It should be ok as long as it is not abused.

I didn't say it was a "waste". But I agree that there are likely times a pic will actually help a seller, however there will be times when it hurts a seller too.
It will be interesting to see how the policy on this gets written and how, when and where we can report issues.

Why would a buyer post a picture of an item in perfect condition but say it is damaged?
I don't know why some think I'm trying to justify any of this. You've been around and seen many of my posts over the years. Let's not get carried away in trying to read between the lines to make what I say sound like something it was never intended to be.

Hey vintagecraze. I appreciate pics like that when they're in product reviews!
Just don't think they belong in seller FB. YMMV.

Agree. We would like to see "product reviews" not affect our feedback, and now eBay could be promoting it being there.
I had one of those. Neutral. "Not as sturdy as I thought it would be". (or something along those lines)
It was an OEM item exactly like what the buyer was replacing (except this one was not broken), and my feedback gets bashed by a numpty buyer.

It sounds like it is not me getting carried away with reading a response. I asked a simple question to what you wrote. You said a buyer will post a picture of an item in fine condition and then say it is not as described. I am just confused why you think a buyer would leave a negative feedback, file a not as described claim, and post a picture of an item in fine condition? Was just looking for clarification not a debate.

They did change this FB policy page very recently to remove info about not leaving a product review. Comparison old and new text:

Only the scammers and few die-hard buyers will even do this. It's hard enough to get feedback anyway so, why would someone take the time to post pictures? Anyone can take something out of a box and post an empty box pic.

Photos are for product reviews. Not needed for FB, especially when one has a lengthy 500 characters to make their point.
Didn’t I read somewhere that some sellers were able to get negs removed because the comment was merely a product review?
Yes, those are removable if the entire post was a product review. If only part of it was, then they would edit it.
I see. Yea I've always been skeptical about this which is why I never tried to attempt to have some of my 100% product review negatives removed. Typically is it only honored when you call or chat with ebay since wastingtime says it depends on the person you talk to? Because going through the automated help system is only having a bot review the removal request, correct?
Aside from ones showing damage, wouldn't all other photos essentially be product reviews? Because it'd all be photos of the product, that's unless the buyer somehow uploads a photo of my face.

Why? What do you think will happen? The worse they could say to you is No. And I agree, do not use the automated system.
