Another final value fee promo...why???? why?????

We just had a final value fee discount promo end and another one started today.  Soooooo.....

Sure, it's going to help our bottom line.  But at the time being, half of our inventory is in unsold listings.  I don't see how ebay benefits off of giving us a discount on fees, but no extra listing potentials.  Does anybody else understand this?  Not saying it isn't a great gesture and we're definitely appreciative but we also want EBAY to succeed.  We had one sale over this past friday and saturday and the buyer just asked to cancel the transaction because they're having paypal issues.   We're not here to complain about a slow weekend by any means, but you have to wonder if we had more inventory listed if we could have made another sale or two (been out of alotted premium store listings for a minute...)

Not sure these promos are best for Ebay.  It's like the IRS just saying here, we have enough money, you guys keep a little extra for the next couple years.  We'll let you know when we need all your money again.  🙂 🙂 🙂  No way does that make sense.

Unless you sell in Motors or sell rugs & bedding the FVF promo is useless anyway.

Sorry, I don't understand this.

Why do you mean when you say that with this new promo there is no "extra listing potentials"?

Why can't you use the promo to list more inventory?

They can, but since it’s an FVF promo, they have to pay listing fees.

Re: Another final value fee promo...why???? why?????

They want us to upgrade our stores to get more listings rather than offer them to us for free.

Is the promo for free FVF, or reduced FVF?

Totally Agree!!
I do not understand how extra free listings is not good for business especially since Ebay makes money off of the sales.

I mean come on lets get our head in the game!!!!

Just my thoughts.

Because there are a gazillion listings here already cluttering the site that have little to no chance of selling that are detracting from the searching/buying experience. There should be MORE listing fees and reduced fvf's as a rule, not the exception. eBay needs to make it better for sellers and worse for "listers". There also needs to be a seller standard for sell through rate. If your sell through rate does not meet minimum standards then your listings go to the bottom. Having a thousands listings and selling 10 a month doesn't cut it. Not talking about you OP, just in general, I have no idea what your stats are.

Because extra free listings leads to more junk on the site. There are almost 20,000,000 listings for cell phone cases right now, 20 freaking million. Do we really need a million more jamming up the servers?

Re: Another final value fee promo...why???? why?????

Understand but the fact remains items can only be sold if they're available for sale.  Shouldn't matter how much is available, if the searches are functioning properly, buyers should be able to get what they need as long as it's listed.  So what if they get to pick from 20 different sellers IMO

I agree, but why does it have to be free to make it available for sale? I remember when we got no free listings and paid much less in fvf's and the site was exponentially more vibrant. Some of that can be attributed to ebay being younger and more of a novelty, but not all of it. Free listings gave birth to duplicate listings and stupidly priced listings. I see no need for more of the same. Both of those things have driven scores of buyers from the site. Cassini does not work and the combination of those things  frustrates people and sends them elsewhere.

Then maybe they should make sellers from China pay for listings on dot com

They can, but since it’s an FVF promo, they have to pay listing fees.

So they don't want to pay 30 cents to save how many dollars?
