Another final value fee promo...why???? why?????

We just had a final value fee discount promo end and another one started today.  Soooooo.....

Sure, it's going to help our bottom line.  But at the time being, half of our inventory is in unsold listings.  I don't see how ebay benefits off of giving us a discount on fees, but no extra listing potentials.  Does anybody else understand this?  Not saying it isn't a great gesture and we're definitely appreciative but we also want EBAY to succeed.  We had one sale over this past friday and saturday and the buyer just asked to cancel the transaction because they're having paypal issues.   We're not here to complain about a slow weekend by any means, but you have to wonder if we had more inventory listed if we could have made another sale or two (been out of alotted premium store listings for a minute...)

Not sure these promos are best for Ebay.  It's like the IRS just saying here, we have enough money, you guys keep a little extra for the next couple years.  We'll let you know when we need all your money again.  🙂 🙂 🙂  No way does that make sense.

Thoughts?

Problem is - people buy from those Chinese sellers - I've even purchased a couple of things from them. They do a service for those looking for low cost throw away items - but also cause a lot of problems when they don't ship as advertised - then tell buyers they'll send them a new one which never arrives or when they misrepresent item location.

I think your missing the point of why eBay offers these promotions and the effect it has on eBay's bottom line. In simple terms, the reduced fees are supposed to increase listings which in the end help drive traffic and result in eBay netting the same or more income had they not offered the promo at all...

It's kind of like the recent tax overhaul. The government reduced our taxes which is going to cost the government trillions in tax revenue, but the hope is it will improve the economy and result in higher wages which in turn causes higher consumtion, better company profits, and ultimately more tax income to the government through this higher activity and an improved economy.

I love the final value fee promos.  It's the only time selling a big ticket item makes sense.  I wait for those to sell expensive items.  eBay's enormous final value fees along with the paypal fee makes it tough to sell anything without taking a bath.   You can only add so much to you price before people just pass because your price seems too high.  Selling a $1000 item can end up costing nearly $140 in fees which forces sellers to push the envelope on pricing.  After all people come here for the deals.  Ebay went after people price gouging on coronavirus related items but who's going after them for their gouging?

Let's see some more of those promos, Ebay, it's been quite a while now.
