WHAT IS SOLUTION OF THIS PROBLEM? EITHER SELLER DO NOT SELL HEAVY ITEMS OR eBay will do something for this or eBay will loose business from thousand of sellers which will be taken by some other platform.
so far, being TRS in order to get the badge on my account profile i have to offer free returns on all of my listing , which is not possible i am selling some heavy products too on eBay and that is not fruitful for me to ship it to some other corner of US there are problems which restrict me to offer free returns on heavy items
1 : Orders coming randomly from all over US and if i ship from NY TO CA there is higher chances item being damaged during transit because its handle by different carrier guys that will effect my seller service metrics for no reason.
2 : free returns on heavy items will cost me much money and that restrict me from selling heavy items on ebay, there is always high risk to of being damage if ship to long distance why not allow seller to sell in near by states based on seller location?
3 : i have almost 600 heavy items which i want to list on eBay but above issues are there that not let me do business here on eBay and eBay also loosing business because of above issues.
-------------------------------------2019 fall update seller protection update only protect seller if claim is false claim what if heavy item arrive damage and ship from long distance and damaged by carrier??????
a ) i would suggest eBay to bring some feature that allow seller to sell heavy item in only near by states based on location of seller , else no seller want higher seller service metrics and loosing of money in form of returns and loosing of badge from profile because he cannot afford loss on heavy items due to long distance problem.
b : heavy items selling should be excluded from offering free returns in order to get TRS badge and also from higher seller service metrics.
bottom line if eBay will not bring something to fix this issue, some other platform will take space for selling heavy items where there is no such issue of service metrics and badge issues.
please guys share your ideas on this problem. Thank you

i am confused and i do not know what is solution for heavy items that is reason i posted this thread so i can get some help.
What exactly is the cause of your confusion? It is just a fact that selling heavy items online is problematic for obvious reasons--shipping costs, return costs. I feel really sorry for sellers whose inventory is predominantly heavy items.
You do have the choice not to offer free returns for remorse, although you are still on the hook for the postage on any not as described claims. You must examine whether your discount for offering free returns is greater than your costs for free returns---only you have that information. I know the answer for me, but it may not be right for you.

opps , I meant local pick up for heavy expensive items , I should have looked at your listings first , your right none of your listing would make sense for that

I guess we just have different ideas about what is important to buyers. I am a TRS but never worry one little bit about not having a badge.

well distance matter in US, all the stops of carriers are not responsible, some handle it with care and some do not care, ia m supplying to 15000 stores directly in US i understand carrier issues very well.
It does not matter if it is packed properly. I just received a package from Japan yesterday-- it showed up with a one-inch-deep dent on one side, but everything inside was fine because it was packed properly.

Unfortunately, this is part of the game when it comes to large items. I would suggest only selling large items that have large profit margins in order to counteract the risks of incurring additional return shipping fees. There really isn't a good solution beyond that.

Just curious, as I’ve never had this happen, how does a seller do the insurance claim if they don’t have the damaged shipment? And have no returns?
Have buyer hang on to the item and packaging (if carrier decides to inspect it) and get photos if you can.
Refund buyer.
File a claim on the carriers web site.

i am selling only my own brand on ebay i am not selling third party items
So you manufacture those 1300 or so items you have listed and you are not dropshipping ? You are selling those items you manufacture to 15,000 stores ? Just curious why you would need Ebay as that sounds like a very lucrative business you have. ? Do you sell to other Ebay sellers who list the same items as you and thus the reason why you lose to competition ?

@jbwoodco wrote:Under shipping you can set exclusions to where you will not ship. The list has every state so you can exclude everything but where you want to ship to.
Could you post a screenshot of that, please?
Someone else mentioned that probably a year or two ago and I never found anything.
It would be nice to exclude different States.

Nothing to fix. Not every listing needs qualify for TRS+. Sellers do not need the badge anymore than buyers need to get useless + feedback for the items that they buy.
Some sellers have the TRS badge, and many, many red donuts + because they offer "free returns" many, many red donuts get scrubbed by eBay as a "perk" for offering "free returns".
The "badge" is a sham.
