I keep rewriting this so that people will understand it and I don't want to be repetitive of others because what I'm experiencing is definitely not just me. This is global, this pandemic that we are going through and I'm not selling anything. I keep clinging to the idea that this will get better, I'll lower prices, etcetera. But my store fee isn't even being covered by my sales. I chatted with Ebay support and they just said Hey sorry about your luck and that's too bad.

I have SO MUCH stock that it's insane, I have maybe 20% of my stock listed for sale right now.

Not expecting a magical answer, or solution, just kind of venting.

This is so upsetting to me. I can't get any kind of credit for store fees or help from Ebay. But what else is new, right?

ugh.

Tia

Personally, I would start sending offers out, even if your listing already have BIN w Best Offer.

A lot of people watch stuff and forget about it.

I've had good luck with sending offers out recently.

At times like this, there are probably buyers, both on line and at B&M stores, who are limiting their purchasing to needs, not wants.

Does eBay give a "credit for store fees" if you're not selling anything?

I have to agree with the other user saying it is not going to get better:

Diversify were, and what you list.

You have a number of options you could try exploring. It appears you are not getting that much value out of your store maybe consider just posting items without having a store. You can diversify across multiple ecommerce sites. I sell a lot on local forums these days maybe because I can list the items for less, there is no shipping cost and exchanges are P2P. Although not something I would do lots of people swear by promoted listings.

I noticed you are in Daytona beach and that most of your items have free shipping and a lot of them ship first class. You may want to look at calculated shipping based on the buyers location. This could reduce the shipping costs for some of the east coast customers but may increase it for the west coast. Shipping is a hard one to nail down. I am on the east coast also and generally use free shipping when I know that regardless of the buyers location the shipping is going to be the same. I use a lot of flat rate envelopes, its amazing what you can pack into those things. I have sent 40 and 50 pounds of lead in a medium flat rate box knowing there was no other option that would be cheaper.

My sales are nothing like they used to be, but I power on.  Based on your current number of listings, you might consider eliminating the store and associated expense.

I don't have any solutions, but you do have a very cute store.

Figure out how you got where you are. Why do you have so much inventory? Inventory that is not for sale is just collecting dust. What is your ROI? Are you at break-even yet? You might have to dump your stock and take a loss. There are many who have lost 20% of their holdings in the stock market (average people, not day traders). This is what happens when an economy goes on and on without any long term major disruptions. We have generations of people who never experienced this type of inflation along with high double digit interest rates like in the 80's. Some are still doing fine and others are in your position. Evaluate all your expenses, your assets, and make changes to just survive until things change. You may think life is rough but being in the US has cushioned you from what others are feeling in the world with inflation in the 50, 60, 70% not the 10% or so we have. Sit back relax and try to think clearly on how to move forward. Best of luck to you.

We're in tough times right now. You can ride things out like most sellers or you might want to consider canceling your store subsription & just listing the limited free listings that ebay offers non-store subscribers. Take another look at your inventory. Are you selling specialized niches or things that buyers would need during good & bad times.

Good luck & enjoy the roller coaster.

But my store fee isn't even being covered by my sales.

You have only 143 items listed.

Without a Store you could have 250 listed with no store fees.

Your FVF might be a little higher.

You only ship to the USA.

If you sign up for the Global Shipping Program, you can ship to your choice of countries, and have strong Seller Protection against false claims of non-delivery.

Although the USA is the world's biggest single economy, the European Union as a whole is larger. Canada's population is about the same as California's.

Your Descriptions do not describe your products.

They are just a bunch of pretty buttons.

(On clicking, they are not buttons just pretty designs.  The information is in red on pink, which is hard to read on my desktop. On a phone?)

FWIW - US unemployment has dropped to 3.6% and 7.0 million people are working now who were unemployed last year.
The US GDP is double the average it has been going all the way back to 1976 (and the Energy Crisis of the Ford years)  at 5.7%.

Wages are up 5.6% -- but still lower than inflation.

And the deficit has been paid down by $1.3 trillion, which may make some difference to upcoming infrastructure projects.

What is true is that online buying has dropped back to nearly pre-pandemic levels as people get used to living with widespread disease and going back to their preferred local stores.

My suggestion would be to diversify in your offerings. Try to find some items that buyers need and will continue to buy regardless of if there is a recession or not. Also because of supply chain issues retail arbitrage is working very well on some items, lots of opportunities out there.
