An unusual offer from e-Bay

Today, 07/08, I noticed I had been given 5000 free listings for cell phones; the expiration is 09/30. Is this an error or have sellers ceased employing e-Bay to vend their phones?

Re: An unusual offer from e-Bay

I received the same ridiculous offer this morning.   Have never sold a cell phone here, or any where else.

@kabilab   That would fall under the category of a "Delusional Offer" ...

only the very, very, very, very large Sellers could take advantage of that ... and even then they may not use all of the free listings.

lol Remember when ebay gave a million listings?  or some such number..........they figured no one could ever use it.......to their surprise, a guy in Germany did............  Never again did they offer so many.....

Those that can use any part of that will probably be pleased........

Received it as well.

Don't wish to list 1 cell phone, let along 5k of them.

Another category, I would be excited, perhaps.

@dhbookds   Yes I do remember that ... I think 10,000 is over the top for many Sellers yet that is what I am still getting ... I've used 81 ... not sure if I should panic yet or not since I only have 9,919 left for the month ...

Re: An unusual offer from e-Bay

The cell phone buyer scammers probably requested this.  Their scamming revenue has probably been dropping & they asked eBay to step in & help. More free cell phone listings = more cell phones listed = more chances for scammers to make $$$.

You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious.

Re: An unusual offer from e-Bay

Yes that is true but are you sure you don't happen to have 5,000 cell phones just laying around the house taking up space?  Have you checked your garage, the basement, perhaps they're hiding in the attic?

I saw this bumper sticker yesterday, really loved it:

And that folks, is eaby mentality...

Probably a relative of an Ebay exec is into selling phones and asked for a break; the same reason that there are few fees on selling shoes.

This is probably the closest to a valid reply.

Scary, isn't it?

Re: An unusual offer from e-Bay

I think this offer is because of a big change ebay is requiring for "condition" of mobile phones---if I'm understanding a message I just received.

"We understand that this is a change to how you currently list on eBay. In acknowledgement of this impact, we are pleased to offer you zero insertion fees for 5,000 of your fixed price Cell Phone & Smartphone listings created through September 30, 2021 effective immediately. See full Terms & Conditions below."

just another useless promotion - don't forget to thank ebay for another promotion that you'll never use.

EBay is requiring sellers to redo their phone listings by August 27th, so they are offering free listings to ease the pain.
