First ever charge back...
Item was delivered and he left good feedback
He did notify me about the double charge and said he would take care of it... It didn't show double payment on my end.. He was a great guy to talk to and loved the item..
Do I just wait now? like it says
I have no payment holds or anything and there is nothing to click on the eBay message or payment dispute details page
Email from eBay:
Your buyer filed a payment dispute for an order placed on Feb 02, 2025. This means that they disputed a charge directly with their payment institution. They are requesting $62.60 back and the reason for this dispute is that the buyer was charged twice.
The good news is that you’re protected for this dispute under eBay seller protection policy. We'll close this dispute once we receive the dispute outcome from the buyer’s payment institution. You're not required to take any action right now. If the buyer updates the dispute, we will let you know if any further action is required.

Ebay has told you that you are protected, why are you questioning it? They aren't holding any of your funds. So why do you think Ebay is not telling you the truth?
This is something Ebay can easily prove to the financial institution. Your buyer was simply mistaken. What causes this is when a buyer pays for an item, Ebay pings that funding source to insure there are funds to cover the purchase. If the financial institute responds that all is good, a PENDING charge is placed on that account for the amount of the purchase at the financial institute.
Then when Ebay actually gets the payment fully processed the hours later or the next day, the financial institute removes the Pending charge and records the actual charge. Sometimes the Pending charge removal is slow to get removed for some reason. Then the buyer sees both charges. But a Pending charge is NOT EVER an amount that the buyer owes. But it does count against their available credit line, so for some that is an issue.
It is usually just a timing issue which Ebay can easily prove.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Just ride it out; if ebay comes back with 'we need $62' you just have to ride with it BUT...
I've had about 6 of these past 10 years, most recent, couple years ago- was the first time I got the same email you got, where ebay said 'you are covered'....and I was, no $$ out of my pocket. 2 out of the other 5 (or so) I won by just giving tracking number.

I'm not sure how or why that happened. Ebay doesn't have the ability to double charge a buyer that I'm aware of. It is usually as I described above in my other post.
Do you have more details as to why a buyer would have won?

eBay saids 'the buyer was charged twice'...but it really comes down to what the buyer said to his payment institution...buyers do tell the stories different sometimes.
eBay is out of this picture...it is totally with his bank institution and how he did the dispute with his bank institution.
No payment hold is great...if one does show up come back here.
Good luck.

Are you suggesting that the financial institute is unable to see if the buyer was actually charged twice? Not only should the financial institute realize if this is true or not, but Ebay can prove that they didn't charge twice. Which is why Ebay did not put a payment hold on the seller.

They are suggesting that if things didn't go the way they are supposed to, to come back here.

How would you know?
Because you can see that in the details of your Payment account. All sellers have access to that.

Who is they? Ebay, the buyer or the financial institute? Do you mean someone told you to come to the Community for answers? I'm not sure what you are suggesting.

Yes, as it should. It is highly likely that what I described in my first post is what happened and why Ebay did not hold you responsible. Ebay also likely won the Chargeback.

As mentioned by others.. Just gonna wait to eBay contacts me or however the process works... Just glad I have no payment holds right now... I'll let ya know what happens... It was just a matter of time when it would happen to me... Anyway, heard to many bad stories about payment disputes... Although we don't hear any good reports, I'm hoping for the best... I think it will all work out!.. If not, I'll suck it up and go on as usual and not start a "I'm suing eBay or eBay ripped me off post".. lol

Ebay will not be contacting you any further. They already informed you that you are not responsible for this issue with the buyer. Please don't over react.
