Abusive buyers

How do I deal with a buyer who misread my listing and when I tried to explain, became very vulgar in reply?

This is business, not personal - you're going to meet all kinds in this business.  Keeping the guy's money because he throws a childish tantrum doesn't really make you better.  Refund, block and just be glad you don't have to associate with this person in RL.

Ignore and delete the message . Then put the buyer in your blocked buyer List.

Buyer Management | eBay

If they made a purchase from you, then you can invite then to return it for a refund.

I don't know at what point of the transaction you are currently, but any reply like that to me would get ignored and I'd completely stop communicating.   If they wish to return or something like that, they can go through ebay and I would only respond through ebay.  Of course block.

Have they already paid you? If they haven't, you don't have to deal with it...  Ignore them and block them:

They paid, but it was a local pick-up situation and they wanted it shipped, which I refused to do.  And because of the foul-mouthed message I got, I refused to refund the money.

You can cancel the order stating problem with buyers address. You can't keep the buyers money.

Evidence of what? That your "buyer" has a potty mouth?

It certainly would not be evidence that you can keep money you are not entitled to. Refund for Pete's sake.

Is it the $5 Printer that you sold way back in early December? 😑

A bid was made on a local pickup item and "potty mouth" chose not to pick up the item and now I'm stuck with it.  Why am I not entitled to keep the money?  Should there be no consequences for not completing a transaction and hurling vulgarities at someone?

@chi-rho

If that is the item, it's sort of 'potty' vs. 'petty', no?
