Can anyone explain to us why our 7 Toy Lot auctions are not showing up when we search for "Toy Lot" in Toys & Hobbies - Auction - Sort: Ending Soonest?
All 7 of our lots are listed under Toys & Hobbies.
We have not received many views at all, so I did a search but again, they're not showing up on our laptop or the mobile app.
Thanks! LCC

It is unlikely that anyone would search by "toy lot" as it returns thousands of listings. It is likely they would refine their search a bit more than that. But with that said, it is likely yours don't return with the simple search of "toy lot" since you don't have the word "toy" in the title of your listings.
When I do a search using words that are actually in your titles, they return just fine in the searches.

Do your listings have the phrase "toy lot" in their title?

I search toy lot every single day and have purchased 30 or 40 lots over the last 30 days. It's the most popular search for a reseller, because we are not looking for any thing particular, just great deals.

They have the word Lot. They should not need the word Toy since they are listed under that category. Also, when you search Toy Lot none of the listings (at least the vast majority) that appear under the search have the word Toy in the title.

Again, the vast majority of listings that appear when searching "Toy Lot" do not have the word toy in the title. I've been under the impression the revamping of item specifics was supposed to incorporate all the words, descriptions, occasions, etc. into the listing; hence the reasoning behind spending the extra time when creating a listing.

That is wonderful and I sincerely hope that continues to work for you. But if those words are NOT in your titles, they won't return in that specific search return.
I should say in your Title and/or Item specifics.
I didn't say anything about it being a popular way to search for these types of items, I simply answered your question as to why your listings don't return in a search for "toy lots".

The category is NOT considered when a search is typed in by a member. Now a member can refine their search on the right of the search bar and select a category they wish to search in. However if you search by Toy Lot and those two words are NOT in the title and/or ISBs, then it won't return for you.

Respectfully, you're not correct.
Go to the search bar and search "Toy Lot" and it automatically pulls up under the "Toys & Hobbies"
Then select auction - and sort under "Ending Soonest"
Now, scroll through those 36,000 listings and 99% of them do NOT contain the word Toy in their titles.
I called eBay and they were very kind and responsive. The agent told me that the word Toy is not required in the listing title if the word LOT is used. He did not understand why my listings were not pulling up either. He did mention that the higher percentage they are promoted they more likely they will appear. Long story short, he and his supervisor filled out an IT support ticket and said that my auction listings were being recoded but it would take a couple of hours. They said after that, they should appear under the general search of "Toy Lot."

Well we just don't agree. I tested it myself before I posted. But you have every right to feel however way you want to and believe what you want to. I will bow out as I clearly am not able to help you. I do sincerely wish you good luck.

Titles is the problem...
Title should begin with the words GI Joe....Flash Gordon...Star Wars...Power Rangers...etc.
Buyers know what is what...meaning buyers will know it is 2008...vintage...rarest...words that need only in the descriptions...

It amazing how many sellers, even when they also buy, find that Ebay's search is always a disappointment given how they want to search. It is almost as if Ebay specifically ignores the results they want to see. It is obviously either malicious or a result of the optimization for watch Ebay sees as NORMAL buyer behavior.
Your complaint is not uncommon, but searches are no longer simply word parsing and the intelligence which has been devised to make the time spend searching and the results cost effective make your request a low or negative priority.
The results would be far worse on Amazon or Walmart and there is no point even considering the perennial whipping boy (girl) Etsy.

You have a bizarre and unusual way of searching but that's fine. Your decision.
The majority of the public however does not search like you do.
Maybe that's why they're not showing up in a search for you and your views are low.

I randomly clicked on this listing that you have: "Lego Duplo Lot Of 2 Yellow & Red Indian Face Printed Specialty Totem Pole Block" .You should be careful with this type of wording since buyers will think they are getting both for one price. But your pricing shows you are selling them separately. Buyers are notorious for not reading everything. A "lot" means you are selling all the items for one price. Just giving you a heads up.

They are not being sold separately. The listing contains two items, both pictured. I'm not sure what you're referencing. It's not a trick or a misleading title. The listing is for both blocks.
