1099

I received my 1099 and it has a sale on there that was refunded.  So...it shows me earning more than 600 dollars when I actually did not.  I had a conversation with someone when this came up and they asked for my social a few months ago they said I'd receive a 1099 but it would show that the one item was returned and the total was below 600.  That, of course, did not happen.  I tried to call and could not get a human.  Any ideas?????

you're not trying to be helpful, you're just another eBay cheerleader who wants to pick apart anybody's post who sez things you don't like.  Rah rah rah.

Trying to help fellow posters when it sounds like they are confused about something isn't being an ebay cheerleader.  It is a kind, usually thankless, thing to do.  Being rude about that is odd.

You have a knowledgeable poster trying to make your life a bit easier suggesting that maybe what you feel compelled to do you may not have to be doing?

"... I live in a state that has no sales tax, but for sales tax I can't put zero, if I do It stops me,  I have to put in 00.001 Tax to collect,..."

I too know a seller in a  "0" sales tax state, but I don't know what you are referring to here...am I missing something? Thanks for helping me so I can fill her in on this......

Look at the tax rate table where they they ask how much state tax you want taken out.

You should not be using a sales tax table. The sales tax table is out of date, and you were never required to use it anyway. From your item locations, you are located in Oregon, which doesn't have a state sales tax. So you were using it incorrectly.

The sales tax table was only to be used by sellers in states with sales tax, if they had registered with their own state to collect sales tax on sales to residents of their state. A few larger sellers might have used the sales tax table for multiple states, if they had a nexus in more than one state or if their sales were large enough to qualify as distance sellers in other than their own state.

The use of the sales tax table was gradually phased out as more states passed marketplace facilitator laws which required eBay to collect sales tax for those states. eBay disabled the sales tax table for those states when eBay began to collect the sales tax. eBay started collecting for the last state with a sales tax the beginning of 2023, so the sales tax table is now completely redundant.

My original post had nothing to do with the tax table, it had to do with a glitch I had to deal with but like most posts I see on here the ebay cheerleaders who have nothing better to do then look at posts and find something they can pick at.  Me using a feature that ebay puts on listings for some reason is what the trolls have seized on.  They didn't like me critizing Ebay so they turned this into "we don't see why you need to use this feature, you're dumb for doing so."   So you see how toxic this place is, post or question something they don't like they come after you, and claim they are helping you.     Seems to be like most of ebay these days, played out and past it's prime.

That 'feature' is actually ONLY for anyone that resides in a state that ebay does NOT collect for; as when they first starting 'collecting' it was only 5 states and as the states contacted ebay, they had to add them.

Now, I believe they are collecting for all 45 states that do sales tax and for the 5 that do not, they obviously do not collect for.

Somehow, in your listings (maybe you are 'selling similar' from a older listing?) you need to 'turn off' the 'tax table' that is set up (and again, probably should NOT even be on anyone's listings anymore)
