Is there any way to filter out 0 feed back buyers on your listing? I had a buyer with 0 feedback buy an item I had listed as BIN. I didn't want to risk losing the item to a 'Item Not As Described' scam so I refunded the buyer and canceled the auction.

No there is no way to block zero fb buyers..and why would you? What reason did you use for the cancellation?

You shouldn't sell on eBay.
Nothing you did was correct.

The closest you can come via your Buyer Requirements page (here) is to block buyers with less than 5 (or other seller-selected number) feedback comments from making a second purchase from you within 10 days. Zero-feedback buyers get to make a first purchase regardless.
Unfortunately your cancellation leaves you open to a Negative feedback comment, as the buyer had no intention of cancelling the sale. A mandolin is not a highly-scammed item on eBay.

The only limit you can place is selling multiple items to same buyer with no feedback.
In your eBay account settings you can navigate to "Selling Preferences" and then to "Your Buyers." The first line should be "Managing who can buy from you." Click "Edit" on right side to change settings.

The only way to not risk losing the item to a “Not as Described” scam is to never sell it on eBay. So yea, I guess you did the right thing. Your item is now safe with you.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the newbie buyer doesn’t come back to buy on eBay now.

Why would you want to filter out new buyers?
If you're trying to actually sell things, that makes no sense.

Not really.
There are just as many scammers with multiple feedbacks than there are new buyers.
Blocking new buyers doesn't limit risk. All you are doing is alienating new buyers.
Sellers with your mindset are a risk to the eBay community.
I bet your cancellation reason was a lie too.

A thousand pardons.
I defer to your clearly strong grasp of exactly what's stupid and what isn't. 👍

My experience has been 0 feedback buyers are using a guest account. It is harder for them to initiate a return and they can't leave feedback so I prefer them.

If it is the Mandolin sale that you canceled, it probably was a musician or collector without a eBay account, and they probably created the eBay account just to buy it. No exactly a scam item.
I sell to zero feedback buyers all the time. The last time I did, I sold a fairly expensive camera to a buyer who created the account the same day. I was a bit wary, but my policy is if the buyer pays, I ship and worry about the rest later. It will take a very exceptional circumstance for me to cancel a sale, and so far one has not come up, and I have been on eBay since the late nineties.

That’s what I’ve been saying all along about guest buyers. Assuming they aren’t a BBLed buyer trying to exact his revenge on me, because we all know how often that happens to me. 👌

I didn’t bother to check the OPs account and as I read the thread I thought you guys were talking about a vegetable slicer. And I’m like why would someone be so scared to lose one of those?
