You'd think that an Ebay user of 14 years would receive a little more respect. I purchased a counterfeit item and Ebay will do NOTHING because its been 14 months since the purchase date.

You have a money back guarantee on this platform for your purchases within 30 days. That is a completely reasonable timeframe to figure out that item you purchased online isn't what you expected. Cannot understand why anyone would think over one full year would still be appropriate to refund an item. Best of luck to you....

When you receive an item that's not as described, you, as a buyer, have 30 days to open an NAD case with eBay.
Failing that, Paypal gives you 180 days to open a case. Most credit cards give 180 days to do a chargeback.
This is not a matter of respect or lack of it on the part of eBay. This is a matter of knowing the rules and options and using them appropriately and in a timely fashion.

You needed to respond faster. You had 30 days. If you used a credit card , you had 180 days. In the future, thoroughly inspect whatever you buy online immediately. Throw away the counterfeit item since it's illegal to sell counterfeits even if you do a yard sale. Toss it in the trash and then toss leftovers or other messy item on top of it to prevent someone from taking it out of the trash and listing it on ebay.

What is it you thought they could do after more than a year?
I can't tell if you are serious.

Before you closed your account, you forgot to remove the listing for the watch you have for sale.

If eBay gave buyers 14 months to return stuff it would be an unofficial rental business, sellers would be overrun with endless returns bc a buyer now needs the money they spent, wore the item to a one time event, sold the tv the remote went to, sold that car and want funds back from upgraded part, return the shoes they literally wore out for being "not as described",return your watch when the battery finally dies.... I can't even imagine how horrible it would be...

Hi @abandjeff3
I'm very sorry for your experience ... but no company I know of gives a buyer that much 'respect'.

14 months is a long, long time. Should have done something in 30 days to see if it was a counterfeit item.
At least you got 14 months knowing it was real.
"#account closed"....you are still selling and buying.

You completely missed the "counterfeit" part...

I hope it's not the counterfeit item.

Name ONE - just ONE - business or retailer that will take a return over a year after the purchase.
Inquiring minds want to know.

Unheard of, thats for sure. Imagine telling some store that you've been their customer for fourteen years, so you are entitled to return a fourteen month old purchase.(Especially if you have been using it!) Kind of funny, really.

You completely missed the:
who's to say
a.) the place that told you it was counterfeit didn't do a switcheroo?
b.) that is the 'same' one you originally recieved
You are expecting WAY too much and you should be/would be closing your account at every retail place (online or B/M Store) as NO PLACE ON EARTH would do anything about it 14 months later...
Not to mention this is simply a website that puts buyers and sellers together.
Like you hating on the LA Times or Wall Street Journal for an issue with something you bought advertised in their publication.

Standard statute of limitations is indeed respectful enough.
