I purchased a HP printer on Feb 23, 2023. Cost was $202.92 This box was so damaged that you could touch the printer through the 2 large holes in the box, and there were dent all over the box like it was dropped, kicked, and stepped on. Printers have moving parts and I was not accepting it. I contacted the seller and he "insisted" on several occasions that I open the box anyway. I refused, but at the same time, I needed a printer. I sent pictures of the damaged box to EBay. Seller kept insisting that I open the box. To save time and get my money back to purchase another printer, I contacted by bank, told them the situation and sent them pictures of the damaged box. They were happy that I did not open the box, making me responsible. They gave me a provisional credit while they investigated. During that time EBay closed the case. After all this time investigation, my bank is taking their credit back. I went to the bank yesterday and they told me that my dispute was to be handled by EBay. Ebay sent me a call tag to ship the printer back to the vendor and I did. So, now I am without the printer that I returned and the money that I paid for the printer. How do I get my money back for damaged merchandise that was sent back to the vendor that I paid for? The vendor is holding his printer and my money, and I am without both. Even though the case was closed during my bank's back & forth investigation, I feel cheated all the way around. I need you help in opening this case and assisting me in getting my money back. Appreciate your help.

When you received the printer, you could have opened it up to check for damage.
If it was damaged, you file an INAD and it's usually taken care of in a few days.
When you opened a case with your bank, that closes any other case you have open.
Once the Ebay case was closed, they won't do anything to help any more.

So you first filed a return request on eBay, and then you filed a payment dispute with your bank is that correct @hamilgen-y57ucy?
When you file a payment dispute that triggers the closing of any eBay request and no further requests, claims or appeals can be filed through eBay. So at this point the only thing you can do is work with your bank. Show them the return tracking and if they can't reopen a dispute then maybe they will give you a courtesy credit.

I think you waited too long for a return with eBay for a refund or a return.
And usually with your bank you must had done something wrong. Usually a bank will refund you with a credit card chargeback. All you should have done with the bank is go online and file a dispute with the charge. Without talking to anyone they usually refund in 2 weeks. Attempting to do anything more with the bank you might get charged $20. Consider it a lesson learned.

I'm sorry but unfortunately you did not follow the correct procedures for a damaged item return. This platform offers a money back guarantee to all buyers. All you needed to do was open an item not as described case and you would have received a return shipping label and a full refund. There is only one chance to open a return case but you didn't follow the procedures correctly for that. Also you are mistaken about the opening the box issue as that is not an issue. Opening the box is not relevant to anything. If you item was damaged then it was damaged. You can always return an opened box for an item not as described or damaged. Here is the link to the MBG, please familiarize yourself with it for future online purchases. Best of luck to you....

This was a costly mistake. You had 30 days to check out the printer. Very often the boxes are dented but the items are fine. You will never know since you returned the item. IT's more than 3 months. You can't even open a case on Paypal. You did 2 things very wrong. You needed to open the box and investigate. Once you open a case, you need to wait and let it play out. The credit card is your 3rd bite at the apple. By opening up the 3rd bite, the first bite of the apple (Ebay MBG) closed. When you returned the printer, you screwed yourself out of the 2nd bite of the apple since now you can NOT open a case in Paypal (assuming you used it) since there is nothing to return. A very , very costly lesson.
Did you try getting the seller to refund the money and you buy a different printer from him? Or tell him to refund the cost of the printer minus his fees? Maybe some of the money back is better than none of themoney back.

Simply walk into the bank again @hamilgen-y57ucy to file a different chargeback on the same transaction
Why Would a Customer File a Chargeback With Reason Code “Credit Not Processed?”
“Credit Not Processed” chargebacks are filed by customers who have returned their purchase but did not receive a refund from the merchant.
This time for CREDIT NOT PROCESSED. Just provide the call tag for the dispute your bank says is being handled by eBay, to get your refund.

Well, I understand that, but the seller gets their printer back and also gets to keep my money too. Why did Ebay send me a call tag to have the printer sent back to the vendor when they know I had already paid for the printer prior to it being shipped to me. They saw to it that their seller got his merchandise back, but they did not see to me getting my money back. It's a win-win for the seller. Where is my money back? He received his printer back.
As I stated, I needed a printer and I got my bank involved to get me my money back ASAP to order another printer. Ebay can attest to that because I ordered the printer through Ebay. The seller was too busy trying to get me to open his damaged box. When I requested a call tag, Ebay should have explained to me how to resolve this issue. This was my first ever return since doing business with Ebay.
VERY DISAPPOINTED in Ebay and in my bank for dragging with this decision and then denying the claim. I'm at a total loss.

Returns and Refunds are VERY SIMPLE here:
1.) You get something
2.) You are not happy with it
3.) You open a 'return' for reason of 'damaged'
4.) You get a 'shipping label' (not a 'call tag)
5.) You ship it
6.) You watch the tracking and once delivered back to the seller, if no refund within 48 hours, you 'escalate to ebay'
7.) eBay then, refunds you.
Done.
