Seller sold a non-functioning item clearly missing an essential piece as "Open Box". It should have been listed as "For parts or not working". It was like selling a pair of scissors missing one of the blades. It was that obvious. It wasn't an accidental oversight. Seller authorized the return but never sent a return shipping label, though they told eBay that they had sent one. I messaged them that they should me a label and all they said was that "open box" allows the item to be missing pieces. But that is not my understanding. Some of the original packaging can be missing, not parts from the original item itself. From what I've read, there should be an "Ask us to step in" link or button after three business days have gone by, but no such link has appeared when I go to the page to look at the "return details". This is the fourth business day, if the day of the return request is counted as one of the days. What is the proper way to get eBay involved at this point, now that they are under the mistaken impression that a return label has been provided to me?

Do you see:
The seller let us know they sent you a return shipping label
and a fake return address? Stop talking to the seller and don't reply any more.
Instead, leave a private message at this page and tell eBay that you need a prepaid return label. eBay will put the case on hold to allow the seller to either refund outright no return needed or send a prepaid return label. If neither happens, eBay will force a refund no return needed when the hold expires.
The 3 business days @tfr888 are Mon Tue Wed for a return request you started on Friday.
But that deadline expires and Ask us to step in disappears when the seller "issues" a return label. And then you have 15 business days to mail the label back for delivery to the seller.

Thanks for the info, @nenu-5410 I will give it another day and then contact eBay at that link. All that I see is that the eBay system says the seller informed eBay that return label had been provided to me. Nothing about a fake address.
