I bought a coin that was delivered to me that was a fake. I opened a dispute over the item and ebay decided on my favor.
I spoke with many ebay representatives who informed my a return shipping label would be generated for me. I told the representatives multiple times that my email was incorrect through ebay but they all said that's ok the label will also be sent to your ebay messages as well.
It never came through my ebay messages.
I did get an email from ebay saying the case was decided in favor and instructions were given on how to return the item.
I returned the item with tracking and provided a tracking number that shows the item was delivered back to the seller.
Now, at this point I'm informed after all my conversations with ebay technical staff that this is a high value claim and it requires a signature confirmation.
At no time did ebay staff say it was a high value claim and needed a signature and no were in the messaged nstructions did
it say that.
Now after all my conversations with ebay stafffI'm out 2700 dollars because I followed the instructions that were given to me by ebay at the time.
I was misled by ebay I followed the instructions and I'm screwed.

Even if by some chance the label was not sent via eBay messages, it could still be accessed through the disputed listing.
The eBay label would have included a signature requirement, and you should have been in the clear.
Using your own label for a return already has some inbuilt risks, but sending it without the minimum protection of signature for such an expensive item is incomprehensible to me, I am sorry to say.
Well, there are probably a couple more avenues you could pursue through your banking facilities.
Good luck.

I was told several times that all that was needed was a tracking number and when the tracking showed delivery the refund would be automatic.
No mention ever that high value items require any special protocol until after the fact.
No access to a shipping label ever through ebay messaging as I was told there would be. No shipping label provided through the claim. Only instructions on how to create my own label.. the instructions said to provide a tracking number not a signature confirmation.

It was not an expensive item.
It was a fake coin which was worthless. Had been real then yes it would have been worth a lot of money and I would have sent it differently.

Stop focusing on what eBay did wrong and focus on getting your money back.
If the tracking number shows that it was delivered back to the seller, then you can file a claim through your credit card company that you used to buy the item.

I don't understand why people don't look up Returning an item on the same page they used to talk to eBay. It takes them to the return instructions. And notice it says you need signature confirmation for items valued over $750.

If the item being returned has a value of $750 or more, it will need to be returned with a signature confirmation. Learn more about our signature confirmation requirements.

@ihuntbigwhitetails 2,700 isn't an expensive item? I'm just curious because that seems expensive to me.

The fake coin still had a value of $2,700 as a return regardless of its actual value.

Tru dat. He paid $2700 for a widget. Doesn't matter if the widget was worth that or not. He has to prove the seller received it back and the proof of delivery eBay requires is signature delivery.
