I recently had an item sell that was out of stock. The buyer paid. I have never set up an account to receive payments through ebay. In order to cancel the order, it is asking me to input my account information. If I have not received the funds for the unavailable purchase, how is the account refunded? And will Ebay automatically debit my account?

You had 1 item for sale and you're out of stock?
Anyway, go to 'My Ebay' under 'Sold Items'; click the item on the left and a 'drop down' will appear; click 'cancel order' and then it will ask for a reason; simply click 'out of stock'
You will get a ding for selling an item you don't have, but if it's not a habit, will not be a problem.

If you didn't have the shoes, why did you put them up for auction?
You need to add a credit/debit card or add your checking account to cover the refund.
You need to set up your MP account so they can deposit the buyers payment in your account.
Cancel the order as out of stock.

Hard to believe eBay allows members to list items without being setup for managed payments. Why-o-why?
